Bereshit

248 In the beginning of God's creation of the heavens and the earth. Bereshit 1:1

152 Now the earth was astonishingly empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep, and the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the water. Bereshit 1:2

174 And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. Bereshit 1:3

157 And God saw the light that it was good, and God separated between the light and between the darkness. Bereshit 1:4

152 And God called the light day, and the darkness He called night, and it was evening and it was morning, one day. Bereshit 1:5

156 And God said, Let there be an expanse in the midst of the water, and let it be a separation between water and water. Bereshit 1:6

156 And God made the expanse and it separated between the water that was below the expanse and the water that was above the expanse, and it was so. Bereshit 1:7

156 And God called the expanse Heaven, and it was evening, and it was morning, a second day. Bereshit 1:8

137 And God said, Let the water that is beneath the heavens gather into one place, and let the dry land appear, and it was so. Bereshit 1:9

156 And God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas, and God saw that it was good. Bereshit 1:10

186 And God said, Let the earth sprout vegetation, seed yielding herbs and fruit trees producing fruit according to its kind in which its seed is found, on the earth, and it was so. Bereshit 1:11

152 And the earth gave forth vegetation, seed yielding herbs according to its kind, and trees producing fruit, in which its seed is found, according to its kind, and God saw that it was good. Bereshit 1:12

150 It was evening and it was morning, a third day. Bereshit 1:13

148 God said, There shall be lights in the heavenly sky to divide between day and night. They shall serve as omens and define festivals, days and years. Bereshit 1:14

122 They shall be lights in the heavenly sky, to shine on the earth.' It happened. Bereshit 1:15

145 And God made the two great luminaries: the great luminary to rule the day and the lesser luminary to rule the night, and the stars. Bereshit 1:16

144 God placed them in the heavenly sky to shine on the earth, Bereshit 1:17

128 to rule by day and by night, and to divide between the light and the darkness. God saw that it was good. Bereshit 1:18

132 It was evening and it was morning, a fourth day. Bereshit 1:19

151 God said, The water shall teem with swarms of living creatures. Flying creatures shall fly over the land, on the face of the heavenly sky. Bereshit 1:20

148 And God created the great sea monsters, and every living creature that crawls, with which the waters swarmed, according to their kind, and every winged fowl, according to its kind, and God saw that it was good. Bereshit 1:21

146 God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and become many, and fill the waters of the seas. Let the flying creatures multiply on the land. Bereshit 1:22

125 It was evening and it was morning, a fifth day. Bereshit 1:23

146 God said, The earth shall bring forth particular species of living creatures, particular species of livestock, land animals, and beasts of the earth.' It happened. Bereshit 1:24

127 And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kind and the cattle according to their kind, and all the creeping things of the ground according to their kind, and God saw that it was good. Bereshit 1:25

127 God said, Let us make man with our image and likeness. Let him dominate the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock animals, and all the earth - and every land animal that walks the earth. Bereshit 1:26

144 God thus created man with His image. In the image of God, He created him, male and female He created them. Bereshit 1:27

131 God blessed them. God said to them, Be fertile and become many. Fill the land and conquer it. Dominate the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every beast that walks the land. Bereshit 1:28

132 God said, Behold, I have given you every seedbearing plant on the face of the earth, and every tree that has seedbearing fruit. It shall be to you for food. Bereshit 1:29

121 For every beast of the field, every bird of the sky, and everything that walks the land, that has in it a living soul, all plant vegetation shall be food.' It remained that way. Bereshit 1:30

121 God saw all that he had made, and behold, it was very good. It was evening and it was morning, the sixth day. Bereshit 1:31

119 Heaven and earth, and all their components, were thus completed. Bereshit 2:1

122 With the seventh day, God finished all the work that He had done. He thus ceased on the seventh day from all the work that He had been doing. Bereshit 2:2

143 God blessed the seventh day, and He declared it to be holy, for it was on this day that God ceased from all the work that He had been creating so that it would continue to function. Bereshit 2:3

126 These are the chronicles of heaven and earth when they were created, on the day God completed earth and heaven. Bereshit 2:4

140 All the wild shrubs did not yet exist on the earth, and all the wild plants had not yet sprouted. This was because God had not brought rain on the earth, and there was no man to work the ground. Bereshit 2:5

114 A mist rose up from the earth, and it watered the entire surface of the ground. Bereshit 2:6

139 God formed man out of dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils a breath of life. Man thus became a living creature. Bereshit 2:7

134 God planted a garden in Eden to the east. There He placed the man that He had formed. Bereshit 2:8

130 God made grow out of the ground every tree that is pleasant to look at and good to eat, including the Tree of Life in the middle of the garden, and the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil. Bereshit 2:9

128 A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden. From there it divided and became four major rivers. Bereshit 2:10

123 The name of the first is Pishon. It surrounds the entire land of Havilah where gold is found. Bereshit 2:11

126 The gold of that land is especially good. Also found there are pearls and precious stones. Bereshit 2:12

120 The name of the second river is Gihon. It surrounds the land of Cush. Bereshit 2:13

118 The name of the third river is the Tigris which flows to the east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates. Bereshit 2:14

149 God took the man and placed him in the Garden of Eden to work it and watch it. Bereshit 2:15

126 God gave the man a commandment, saying, You may definitely eat from every tree of the garden. Bereshit 2:16

108 But from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil, do not eat, for on the day you eat from it, you will definitely die. Bereshit 2:17

119 God said, It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a compatible helper for him. Bereshit 2:18

150 God had formed every wild beast and every bird of heaven out of the ground. He now brought them to the man to see what he would name each one. Whatever the man called each living thing would remain its name. Bereshit 2:19

119 The man named every livestock animal and bird of the sky, as well as all the wild beasts. But the man did not find a helper who was compatible for him. Bereshit 2:20

124 God then made the man fall into a deep state of unconsciousness, and he slept. He took one of his ribs and closed the flesh in its place. Bereshit 2:21

100 God built the rib that he took from the man into a woman, and He brought her to the man. Bereshit 2:22

117 The man said, Now this is bone from my bones and flesh from my flesh. She shall be called Woman (Ishah) because she was taken from man (ish). Bereshit 2:23

117 A man shall therefore leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Bereshit 2:24

108 The man and his wife were both naked, but they were not embarrassed by one another. Bereshit 2:25

125 The serpent was the most cunning of all the wild beasts that God had made. The serpent asked the woman, 'Did God really say that you may not eat from any of the trees of the garden?' Bereshit 3:1

104 The woman replied to the serpent, We may eat from the fruit of the trees of the garden. Bereshit 3:2

124 But of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God said, 'Do not eat it, and do not even touch it, or else you will die.' Bereshit 3:3

100 The serpent said to the woman, You will certainly not die! Bereshit 3:4

111 Really, God knows that on the day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. Bereshit 3:5

108 The woman saw that the tree was good to eat and desirable to the eyes, and that the tree was attractive as a means to gain intelligence. She took some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, and he ate it. Bereshit 3:6

136 The eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized that they were naked. They sewed together fig leaves, and made themselves loincloths. Bereshit 3:7

105 They heard God's voice moving about in the garden with the wind of the day. The man and his wife hid themselves from God among the trees of the garden. Bereshit 3:8

111 God called to the man, and He said, 'Where are you trying to hide?' Bereshit 3:9

124 'I heard Your voice in the garden,' replied the man, 'and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.' Bereshit 3:10

111 God asked, 'Who told you that you are naked? Did you eat from the tree which I commanded you not to eat?' Bereshit 3:11

110 The man replied, 'The woman that you gave to be with me - she gave me what I ate from the tree.' Bereshit 3:12

102 God said to the woman, 'What is this that you have done?' The woman replied, 'The serpent seduced me and I ate it.' Bereshit 3:13

141 God said to the serpent, 'Because you did this, cursed are you more than all the livestock and all the wild beasts. On your belly you shall crawl, and dust you shall eat, all the days of your life. Bereshit 3:14

102 I will plant hatred between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike you in the head, and you will strike him in the heel.' Bereshit 3:15

135 To the woman He said, 'I will greatly increase your anguish and your pregnancy. It will be with anguish that you will give birth to children. Your passion will be to your husband, and he will dominate you.' Bereshit 3:16

140 To Adam He said, 'You listened to your wife, and ate from the tree regarding which I specifically gave you orders, saying, 'Do not eat from it.' The ground will therefore be cursed because of you. You will derive food from it with anguish all the days of your life. Bereshit 3:17

112 It will bring forth thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the grass of the field. Bereshit 3:18

130 By the sweat of your brow you will eat bread. Finally you will return to the ground, for it was from the ground that you were taken. You are dust, and to dust you shall return.' Bereshit 3:19

100 The man named his wife Eve, because she was the mother of all life. Bereshit 3:20

111 God made leather garments for Adam and his wife and He clothed them. Bereshit 3:21

138 God said, 'Man has now become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now he must be prevented from putting forth his hand and also taking from the Tree of Life. He can eat it and live forever!' Bereshit 3:22

103 God banished man from the Garden of Eden, to work the ground from which he was taken. Bereshit 3:23

143 He drove away the man, and stationed the cherubim at the east of Eden, along with the revolving sword blade, to guard the path of the Tree of Life. Bereshit 3:24

119 The man knew his wife Eve. She conceived and gave birth to Cain. She said, 'I have gained a man with God.' Bereshit 4:1

115 She gave birth again, this time to his brother Abel. Abel became a shepherd, while Cain was a worker of the soil. Bereshit 4:2

108 An era ended. Cain brought some of his crops as an offering to God. Bereshit 4:3

120 Abel also offered some of the firstborn of his flock, from the fattest ones. God paid heed to Abel and his offering, Bereshit 4:4

110 but to Cain and his offering, He paid no heed. Cain became very furious and depressed. Bereshit 4:5

116 God said to Cain, Why are you so furious? Why are you depressed? Bereshit 4:6

106 If you do good, will there not be special privilege? And if you do not do good, sin is crouching at the door. It lusts after you, but you can dominate it. Bereshit 4:7

138 Cain said something to his brother Abel. Then, when they happened to be in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and killed him. Bereshit 4:8

127 God asked Cain, Where is your brother Abel? I do not know, replied Cain. Am I my brother's keeper? Bereshit 4:9

112 God said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is screaming to Me from the ground. Bereshit 4:10

132 Now you are cursed from the ground that opened its mouth to take your brother's blood from your hand. Bereshit 4:11

143 When you work the ground, it will no longer give you of its strength. You will be restless and isolated in the world. Bereshit 4:12

106 Cain said, My sin is too great to bear! Bereshit 4:13

140 Behold, today You have banished me from the face of the earth, and I am to be hidden from Your face. I am to be restless and isolated in the world, and whoever finds me will kill me. Bereshit 4:14

129 God said to him, Indeed! Whoever kills Cain will be punished seven times as much. God placed a mark on Cain so that whoever would find him would not kill him. Bereshit 4:15

116 Cain went out from before God's presence. He settled in the land of Nod, to the east of Eden. Bereshit 4:16

122 Cain knew his wife. She conceived and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was building a city, and he named the city Enoch, after his son. Bereshit 4:17

89 Enoch had a son Irad. Irad had a son Mechuyael. Mechuyael had a son Methushael. Methushael had a son Lemekh. Bereshit 4:18

111 Lemekh married two women. The first one's name was Adah, and the second one's name was Tzillah. Bereshit 4:19

137 Adah gave birth to Yaval. He was the ancestor of all those who live in tents and keep herds. Bereshit 4:20

161 His brother's name was Yuval. He was the ancestor of all who play the harp and flute. Bereshit 4:21

114 Tzillah also had a son, Tuval Cain, a maker of all copper and iron implements. Tuval Cain's sister was Naamah. Bereshit 4:22

132 Lemekh said to his wives, 'Adah and Tzillah, hear my voice; wives of Lemekh, listen to my speech. I have killed a man by wounding him, and a child by bruising him. Bereshit 4:23

120 If Cain shall be revenged seven times, then for Lemekh it shall be seventy-seven times.' Bereshit 4:24

129 Adam knew his wife again, and she gave birth to a son. She named him Seth - 'Because God has granted (shath) me other offspring in place of Abel, whom Cain had killed.' Bereshit 4:25

142 A son was also born to Seth, and Seth named him Enosh. It was then initiated to pray with God's name. Bereshit 4:26

114 This is the book of the Chronicles of Adam: On the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. Bereshit 5:1

118 He created them male and female. He blessed them and named them Man (Adam) on the day that they were created. Bereshit 5:2

137 Adam lived 130 years, and he had a son in his likeness and form. He named him Seth. Bereshit 5:3

110 Adam lived 800 years after he had Seth, and he had sons and daughters. Bereshit 5:4

118 All the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died. Bereshit 5:5

113 Seth lived 105 years, and he had a son Enosh. Bereshit 5:6

122 Seth lived 807 years after he had Enosh, and he had sons and daughters. Bereshit 5:7

108 All of Seth's days were 912 years, and he died. Bereshit 5:8

121 Enosh lived 90 years, and he had a son Kenan. Bereshit 5:9

125 Enosh lived 815 years after he had Kenan, and he had sons and daughters. Bereshit 5:10

116 All of Enosh's days were 905 years, and he died. Bereshit 5:11

106 Kenan lived 70 years, and he had a son Mahalalel. Bereshit 5:12

115 Kenan lived 840 years after he had Mahalalel, and he had sons and daughters. Bereshit 5:13

115 All of Kenan's days were 910 years, and he died. Bereshit 5:14

109 Mahalalel lived 65 years, and he had a son Yered. Bereshit 5:15

111 Mahalalel lived 830 years after he had Yered, and he had sons and daughters. Bereshit 5:16

100 All of Mahalalel's days were 895 years, and he died. Bereshit 5:17

102 Yered lived 162 years, and he had a son Enoch. Bereshit 5:18

98 Yered lived 800 years after he had Enoch, and he had sons and daughters. Bereshit 5:19

101 All of Yered's days were 962 years, and he died. Bereshit 5:20

95 Enoch lived 65 years, and he had a son Methuselah. Bereshit 5:21

114 Enoch walked with God for 300 years after he had Methuselah, and he had sons and daughters. Bereshit 5:22

99 All of Enoch's days were 365 years. Bereshit 5:23

98 Enoch walked with God, and he was no more, because God had taken him. Bereshit 5:24

93 Methuselah lived 187 years, and he had a son Lemekh. Bereshit 5:25

97 Methuselah lived 782 years after he had Lemekh, and he had sons and daughters. Bereshit 5:26

99 All of Methuselah's days were 969 years, and he died. Bereshit 5:27

92 Lemekh lived 182 years, and he had a son. Bereshit 5:28

122 He named him Noah, saying, 'This one will bring us relief from our work and the anguish of our hands, from the soil that God has cursed.' Bereshit 5:29

117 Lemekh lived 595 years after he had Noah, and he had sons and daughters. Bereshit 5:30

106 All of Lemekh's days were 777 years, and he died. Bereshit 5:31

110 Noah was 500 years old, and Noah fathered Shem, Ham, and Yefeth. Bereshit 5:32

106 Man began to increase on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them. Bereshit 6:1

100 The sons of God saw that the daughters of man were good, and they took themselves wives from whomever they chose. Bereshit 6:2

118 God said, 'My spirit will not continue to judge man forever, since he is nothing but flesh. His days shall be 120 years.' Bereshit 6:3

123 The titans were on the earth in those days and also later. The sons of God had come to the daughters of man and had fathered them. The titans were the mightiest ones who ever existed, men of renown. Bereshit 6:4

106 God saw that man's wickedness on earth was increasing. Every impulse of his innermost thought was only for evil, all day long. Bereshit 6:5

110 God regretted that He had made man on earth, and He was pained to His very core. Bereshit 6:6

121 God said, I will obliterate humanity that I have created from the face of the earth - man, livestock, land animals, and birds of the sky. I regret that I created them. Bereshit 6:7

120 But Noah found favor in God's eyes. Bereshit 6:8

125 These are the generations of Noah, Noah was a righteous man he was perfect in his generations; Noah walked with God. Bereshit 6:9

112 And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Bereshit 6:10

135 Now the earth was corrupt before God, and the earth became full of robbery. Bereshit 6:11

131 And God saw the earth, and behold it had become corrupted, for all flesh had corrupted its way on the earth. Bereshit 6:12

129 And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth has become full of robbery because of them, and behold I am destroying them from the earth. Bereshit 6:13

110 Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with compartments, and you shall caulk it both inside and outside with pitch. Bereshit 6:14

112 And this is the size you shall make it: three hundred cubits the length of the ark, fifty cubits its breadth, and thirty cubits its height. Bereshit 6:15

123 You shall make a skylight for the ark, and to a cubit you shall finish it to the top, and the entrance of the ark you shall place in its side; you shall make it with bottom compartments, second story compartments, and third story compartments. Bereshit 6:16

120 And I, behold I am bringing the flood, water upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which there is the spirit of life, from beneath the heavens; all that is upon the earth will perish. Bereshit 6:17

110 And I will set up My covenant with you, and you shall come into the ark, you and your sons, and your wife and your sons' wives with you. Bereshit 6:18

115 And of all living things of all flesh, two of each you shall bring into the ark to preserve alive with you; they shall be male and female. Bereshit 6:19

131 Of the fowl after its kind and of the animals after their kind, of every creeping thing upon the ground after its kind; two of each shall come to you to preserve alive. Bereshit 6:20

113 And you, take for yourself of every food that is eaten and gather it in to you, and it shall be for you and for them to eat. Bereshit 6:21

119 And Noah did; according to all that God had commanded him, so he did. Bereshit 6:22

140 And the Lord said to Noah, Come into the ark, you and all your household, for it is you that I have seen as a righteous man before Me in this generation. Bereshit 7:1

116 Of all the clean animals you shall take for yourself seven pairs, a male and its mate, and of the animals that are not clean, two, a male and its mate. Bereshit 7:2

106 Also, of the fowl of the heavens, seven pairs, male and female, to keep seed alive on the face of the earth. Bereshit 7:3

127 For in another seven days, I will make it rain upon the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will blot out all beings that I have made, off the face of the earth. Bereshit 7:4

111 And Noah did, according to all that the Lord had commanded him. Bereshit 7:5

116 And Noah was six hundred years old, and the flood came about, water upon the earth. Bereshit 7:6

126 And Noah went in and his sons and his wife and his son's wives with him into the ark because of the flood waters. Bereshit 7:7

107 Of the clean beasts and of the beasts that are not clean, and of the fowl, and all that creeps upon the earth. Bereshit 7:8

117 Two by two they came to Noah to the ark, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. Bereshit 7:9

104 And it came to pass after the seven days, that the flood waters were upon the earth. Bereshit 7:10

140 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on this day, all the springs of the great deep were split, and the windows of the heavens opened up. Bereshit 7:11

149 And the rain was upon the earth for forty days and forty nights. Bereshit 7:12

105 On this very day, Noah came, and Shem and Ham and Japheth, Noah's sons, and Noah's wife and his sons' three wives with them, into the ark. Bereshit 7:13

106 They, and every beast after its kind, and every domestic animal after its kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every fowl after its kind, every bird of every wing. Bereshit 7:14

111 And they came to Noah to the ark, two by two of all flesh in which there is the spirit of life. Bereshit 7:15

106 And those who came male and female of all flesh came, as God had commanded him, and the Lord shut him in. Bereshit 7:16

108 Now the Flood was forty days upon the earth, and the waters increased, and they lifted the ark, and it rose off the earth. Bereshit 7:17

98 And the waters became powerful, and they increased very much upon the earth, and the ark moved upon the waters. Bereshit 7:18

111 And the waters became exceedingly powerful upon the earth, and all the lofty mountains that were under the heavens were covered up. Bereshit 7:19

106 Fifteen cubits above did the waters prevail, and the mountains were covered up. Bereshit 7:20

106 And all flesh perished that moved upon the earth, among the fowl, and among the cattle, and among the beasts, and among all creeping creatures that creep upon the earth and all mankind. Bereshit 7:21

117 Everything that had the breath of the spirit of life in its nostrils, of all that were on the dry land, died. Bereshit 7:22

137 And it the Flood blotted out all beings that were upon the face of the earth, from man to animal to creeping thing and to the fowl of the heavens, and they were blotted out from the earth, and only Noah and those with him in the ark survived. Bereshit 7:23

116 And the water prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days. Bereshit 7:24

108 And God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark, and God caused a spirit to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided. Bereshit 8:1

112 And the springs of the deep were closed, and the windows of the heavens, and the rain from the heavens was withheld. Bereshit 8:2

106 And the waters receded off the earth more and more, and the water diminished at the end of a hundred and fifty days. Bereshit 8:3

102 And the ark came to rest in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat. Bereshit 8:4

95 And the waters constantly diminished until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first of the month, the mountain peaks appeared. Bereshit 8:5

119 And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark that he had made. Bereshit 8:6

124 And he sent forth the raven, and it went out, back and forth until the waters dried up off the earth. Bereshit 8:7

114 And he sent forth the dove from with him, to see whether the waters had abated from upon the surface of the earth. Bereshit 8:8

138 But the dove found no resting place for the sole of its foot; so it returned to him to the ark because there was water upon the entire surface of the earth; so he stretched forth his hand and took it, and he brought it to him to the ark. Bereshit 8:9

105 And he waited again another seven days, and he again sent forth the dove from the ark. Bereshit 8:10

129 And the dove returned to him at eventide, and behold it had plucked an olive leaf in its mouth; so Noah knew that the water had abated from upon the earth. Bereshit 8:11

112 And he again waited another seven days, and he sent forth the dove, and it no longer continued to return to him. Bereshit 8:12

143 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, on the first of the month, that the waters dried up from upon the earth, and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and he saw, and behold, the surface of the ground had dried up. Bereshit 8:13

109 And in the second month, on the twenty seventh day of the month, the earth was dry. Bereshit 8:14

139 And God spoke to Noah saying: Bereshit 8:15

112 Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons, and your sons wives with you. Bereshit 8:16

118 Every living thing that is with you of all flesh, of fowl, and of animals and of all the creeping things that creep on the earth, bring out with you, and they shall swarm upon the earth, and they shall be fruitful and multiply upon the earth. Bereshit 8:17

121 So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him. Bereshit 8:18

111 Every beast, every creeping thing, and all fowl, everything that moves upon the earth, according to their families they went forth from the ark. Bereshit 8:19

131 So long as the earth exists, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Bereshit 8:22

126 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and He said to them: Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. Bereshit 9:1

148 And your fear and your dread shall be upon all the beasts of the earth and upon all the fowl of the heaven; upon everything that creeps upon the ground and upon all the fish of the sea, for they have been given into your hands. Bereshit 9:2

114 Every moving thing that lives shall be yours to eat; like the green vegetation, I have given you everything. Bereshit 9:3

112 But, flesh with its soul, its blood, you shall not eat. Bereshit 9:4

121 But your blood, of your souls, I will demand an account; from the hand of every beast I will demand it, and from the hand of man, from the hand of each man, his brother, I will demand the soul of man. Bereshit 9:5

110 Whoever sheds the blood of man through man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God He made man. Bereshit 9:6

112 My rainbow I have placed in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Myself and the earth. Bereshit 9:13

113 And it shall come to pass, when I cause clouds to come upon the earth, that the rainbow will appear in the cloud. Bereshit 9:14

133 And I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and between you and between every living creature among all flesh, and the water will no longer become a flood to destroy all flesh. Bereshit 9:15

123 And the rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will see it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and between every living creature among all flesh, which is on the earth. Bereshit 9:16

140 And God said to Noah: This is the sign of the covenant that I have set up, between Myself and between all flesh that is on the earth. Bereshit 9:17

135 And Noah awoke from his wine, and he knew what his small son had done to him. Bereshit 9:24

133 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; he shall be a slave among slaves to his brethren. Bereshit 9:25

126 And he said, Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem, and may Canaan be a slave to them. Bereshit 9:26

130 May God expand Japheth, and may He dwell in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be a slave to them. Bereshit 9:27

125 And Sarai said to Abram, Behold now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing; please come to my handmaid; perhaps I will be built up from her. And Abram hearkened to Sarai's voice. Bereshit 16:2

120 So Sarai, Abram's wife, took Hagar the Egyptian, her handmaid, at the end of ten years of Abram's dwelling in the land of Canaan, and she gave her to Abram her husband for a wife. Bereshit 16:3

113 And he came to Hagar, and she conceived, and she saw that she was pregnant, and her mistress became unimportant in her eyes. Bereshit 16:4

128 And your name shall no longer be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations. Bereshit 17:5

108 And I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings will emerge from you. Bereshit 17:6

127 And I will establish My covenant between Me and between you and between your seed after you throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant, to be to you for a God and to your seed after you. Bereshit 17:7

128 Those born in the house and those purchased for money shall be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh as an everlasting covenant. Bereshit 17:13

122 And God said to Abraham, Your wife Sarai-you shall not call her name Sarai, for Sarah is her name. Bereshit 17:15

137 And he said, My lords, if only I have found favor in your eyes, please do not pass on from beside your servant. Bereshit 18:3

112 Please let a little water be taken, and bathe your feet, and recline under the tree. Bereshit 18:4

143 And I will take a morsel of bread, and sustain your hearts; after wards you shall pass on, because you have passed by your servant. And they said, So shall you do, as you have spoken. Bereshit 18:5

141 And Abraham hastened to the tent to Sarah, and he said, "Hasten three seah of meal and fine flour; knead and make cakes." Bereshit 18:6

122 And to the cattle did Abraham run, and he took a calf, tender and good, and he gave it to the youth, and he hastened to prepare it. Bereshit 18:7

103 And he took cream and milk and the calf that he had prepared, and he placed them before them, and he was standing over them under the tree, and they ate. Bereshit 18:8

98 And they said to him, Where is Sarah your wife? And he said, Behold in the tent. Bereshit 18:9

120 And he said, I will surely return to you at this time next year, and behold, your wife Sarah will have a son. And Sarah heard from the entrance of the tent, and it was behind him. Bereshit 18:10

128 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, coming on in years; Sarah had ceased to have the way of the women. Bereshit 18:11

116 And Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I have become worn out, will I have smooth flesh? And also, my master is old. Bereshit 18:12

118 And the Lord said to Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Is it really true that I will give birth, although I am old? Bereshit 18:13

123 Is anything hidden from the Lord? At the appointed time, I will return to you, at this time next year and Sarah will have a son. Bereshit 18:14

120 And Sarah denied, saying, I did not laugh, because she was afraid. And He said, No, but you laughed. Bereshit 18:15

114 And the men arose from there, and they looked upon Sodom, and Abraham went with them to escort them, Bereshit 18:16

122 And the Lord said, Shall I conceal from Abraham what I am doing? Bereshit 18:17

136 And Abraham will become a great and powerful nation, and all the nations of the world will be blessed in him. Bereshit 18:18

122 And the Lord said, "Since the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah has become great, and since their sin has become very grave, Bereshit 18:20

122 I will descend now and see, whether according to her cry, which has come to Me, they have done; I will wreak destruction upon them; and if not, I will know." Bereshit 18:21

108 And the men turned from there and went to Sodom, and Abraham was still standing before the Lord. Bereshit 18:22

127 And Abraham approached and said, Will You even destroy the righteous with the wicked? Bereshit 18:23

115 Perhaps there are fifty righteous men in the midst of the city; will You even destroy and not forgive the place for the sake of the fifty righteous men who are in its midst? Bereshit 18:24

105 Far be it from You to do a thing such as this, to put to death the righteous with the wicked so that the righteous should be like the wicked. Far be it from You! Will the Judge of the entire earth not perform justice? Bereshit 18:25

109 And the Lord said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous men within the city, I will forgive the entire place for their sake. Bereshit 18:26

115 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now I have commenced to speak to the Lord, although I am dust and ashes. Bereshit 18:27

119 Perhaps the fifty righteous men will be missing five. Will You destroy the entire city because of five? And He said, I will not destroy if I find there forty-five. Bereshit 18:28

106 And he continued further to speak to Him, and he said, Perhaps forty will be found there. And He said, I will not do it for the sake of the forty. Bereshit 18:29

127 And he said, Behold now my lords, please turn to your servant's house and stay overnight and wash your feet, and you shall arise early and go on your way. And they said, No, but we will stay overnight in the street. Bereshit 19:2

124 And he urged them strongly, and they turned in to him, and came into his house, and he made them a feast, and he baked unleavened cakes, and they ate. Bereshit 19:3

101 When they had not yet retired, and the people of the city, the people of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, the entire populace from every end of the city. Bereshit 19:4

115 And they called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, and let us be intimate with them." Bereshit 19:5

113 And Lot came out to them to the entrance, and he shut the door behind him. Bereshit 19:6

113 And he said, My brethren, please do not do evil. Bereshit 19:7

144 Behold now I have two daughters who were not intimate with a man. I will bring them out to you, and do to them as you see fit; only to these men do nothing, because they have come under the shadow of my roof. Bereshit 19:8

120 But they said, Back away. And they said, This one came to sojourn, and he is judging! Now, we will deal even worse with you than with them. And they pressed hard upon the man Lot, and they drew near to break the door. Bereshit 19:9

126 And the men stretched forth their hands, and they brought Lot to them to the house, and they shut the door. Bereshit 19:10

131 And the men who were at the entrance of the house they struck with blindness, both small and great, and they toiled in vain to find the entrance. Bereshit 19:11

117 And the men said to Lot, Whom else do you have here? A son-in-law, your sons, and your daughters, and whomever you have in the city, take out of the place. Bereshit 19:12

107 For we are destroying this place, because their cry has become great before the Lord, and the Lord has sent us to destroy it. Bereshit 19:13

134 So Lot went forth and spoke to his sons-in-law, the suitors of his daughters, and he said, Arise, go forth from this place, for the Lord is destroying the city, but he seemed like a comedian in the eyes of his sons-in-law. Bereshit 19:14

134 And as the dawn rose, the angels pressed Lot, saying, Get up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you perish because of the iniquity of the city. Bereshit 19:15

97 But he tarried, and the men took hold of his hand and his wife's hand, and the hand of his two daughters, out of the Lord's pity for him, and they took him out and placed him outside the city. Bereshit 19:16

113 And it came to pass, when they took them outside, that he said, Flee for your life, do not look behind you, and do not stand in the entire plain. Flee to the mountain, lest you perish. Bereshit 19:17

101 And Lot said to them, Please, do not, O Lord. Bereshit 19:18

125 Behold now, Your servant has found favor in Your eyes, and You have increased Your kindness, which You have done with me, to sustain my soul. But I cannot flee to the mountain, lest the evil overtake me, and I die. Bereshit 19:19

134 Behold now, this city is near to flee there, and it is small. Let me please flee there. Is it not small? And my soul will survive. Bereshit 19:20

114 And he said to him, Behold I have favored you also as regards this matter, that I will not overturn the city that you have mentioned. Bereshit 19:21

129 Hasten, flee there, for I will not be able to do anything until you arrive there." Therefore, he named the city Zoar. Bereshit 19:22

122 And God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and He said to him, Behold you are going to die because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a married woman. Bereshit 20:3

121 And Abimelech had not come near to her, and he said, O Lord, will You kill even a righteous nation? Bereshit 20:4

122 Now he had not yet finished speaking, and behold, Rebecca came out, who had been born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, and her pitcher was on her shoulder. Bereshit 24:15

127 Now the maiden was of very comely appearance, a virgin, and no man had been intimate with her, and she went down to the fountain, and she filled her pitcher and went up. Bereshit 24:16

107 And the servant ran toward her, and he said, "Please let me sip a little water from your pitcher." Bereshit 24:17

126 And it came to pass, when he saw the nose ring and the bracelets on his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of his sister Rebecca, saying, "So did the man speak to me, " that he came to the man, and behold, he was standing over the camels at the fountain. Bereshit 24:30

108 And he said, Come, you who are blessed of the Lord. Why should you stand outside, when I have cleared the house, and a place for the camels? Bereshit 24:31

106 So the man came to the house and unmuzzled the camels, and he gave straw and fodder to the camels and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him. Bereshit 24:32

123 And food was set before him to eat, but he said, I will not eat until I have spoken my words. And he said, Speak. Bereshit 24:33

114 And he said, I am Abraham's servant. Bereshit 24:34

109 And Sarah, my master's wife, bore a son to my master after she had become old, and he gave him all that he possesses. Bereshit 24:36

123 And my master adjured me, saying, You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell. Bereshit 24:37

109 You will then be absolved from my oath, when you come to my family, and if they do not give her to you, you will be absolved from my oath.' Bereshit 24:41

133 So I came today to the fountain, and I said, O Lord, God of my master Abraham, if You desire to prosper my way upon which I am going Bereshit 24:42

126 Behold, I am standing by the water fountain. When a maiden comes out to draw water, I will say to her, 'Please, give me a little water to drink from your pitcher.' Bereshit 24:43

120 And if she will say to me, You too may drink, and I will also draw water for your camels, she is the woman whom the Lord has designated for my master's son. Bereshit 24:44

123 And I kneeled and prostrated myself to the Lord, and I blessed the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, Who led me on the true path, to take the daughter of my master's brother for his son. Bereshit 24:48

100 And now, if you will do loving kindness and truth with my master, tell me, and if not, tell me, and I will turn to the right or to the left." Bereshit 24:49

110 And Laban and Bethuel answered and said, "The matter has emanated from the Lord. We cannot speak to you either bad or good. Bereshit 24:50

90 Behold Rebecca is before you, take her and go, and let her be a wife for your master's son, as the Lord has spoken." Bereshit 24:51

123 And her brother and her mother said, Let the maiden stay with us a year or ten months; afterwards she will go. Bereshit 24:55

108 But he said to them, Do not delay me, since the Lord has made my way prosper. Send me away, and I will go to my master. Bereshit 24:56

106 And they said, Let us call the maiden and ask her. Bereshit 24:57

123 And they summoned Rebecca, and they said to her, Will you go with this man? And she said, I will go. Bereshit 24:58

133 So they sent away Rebecca their sister and her nurse and Abraham's servant and his men. Bereshit 24:59

118 And they blessed Rebecca and said to her, Our sister, may you become thousands of myriads, and may your seed inherit the cities of their enemies. Bereshit 24:60

97 And Rebecca and her maidens arose and rode on the camels, and they followed the man; and the servant took Rebecca and left. Bereshit 24:61

103 Now Isaac was on his way, coming from Be'er Lachai Ro'i, and he dwelt in the land of the south. Bereshit 24:62

127 It came to pass when Isaac was old, and his eyes were too dim to see, that he called Esau his elder son, and he said to him, "My son," and he said to him, "Here I am." Bereshit 27:1

106 And he said, "Behold now, I have grown old; I do not know the day of my death. Bereshit 27:2

108 So, now, sharpen your implements, your sword and take your bow, and go forth to the field, and hunt game for me. Bereshit 27:3

100 And make for me tasty foods as I like, and bring them to me, and I will eat, in order that my soul will bless you before I die." Bereshit 27:4

126 But Rebecca overheard when Isaac spoke to Esau his son, and Esau went to the field to hunt game, to bring it. Bereshit 27:5

132 And Rebecca said to Jacob her son, saying, Behold I have heard your father speaking to Esau your brother, saying, Bereshit 27:6

117 Bring me game and make me tasty foods, and I will eat, and I will bless you before the Lord before my death. Bereshit 27:7

107 And now my son, hearken to my voice, to what I am commanding you. Bereshit 27:8

111 Go now to the flock, and take for me from there two choice kids, and I will make them tasty foods for your father, as he likes. Bereshit 27:9

105 And you shall bring them to your father that he may eat, in order that he bless you before his death. Bereshit 27:10

112 And Jacob said to Rebecca his mother, Behold, my brother Esau is a hairy man, whereas I am a smooth man. Bereshit 27:11

116 Perhaps my father will touch me, and I will appear to him as a deceiver, and I will bring upon myself a curse and not a blessing. Bereshit 27:12

117 And his mother said to him, On me is your curse, my son. Only hearken to my voice and go, take them for me. Bereshit 27:13

108 So he went, and he took, and he brought them to his mother, and his mother made tasty foods, as his father liked. Bereshit 27:14

117 And Rebecca took the costly garments of Esau, her elder son, which were with her in the house, and she dressed Jacob, her younger son. Bereshit 27:15

107 And the hides of the kids she put on his hands and on the smoothness of his neck. Bereshit 27:16

108 And she gave the tasty foods and the bread that she had made, into the hand of Jacob her son. Bereshit 27:17

99 And he came to his father and said, My father! And he said, Here I am. Who are you, my son? Bereshit 27:18

124 And Jacob said to his father, I am Esau your firstborn. I have done as you have spoken to me. Please rise, sit down and eat of my game, so that your soul will bless me. Bereshit 27:19

158 And Isaac said to his son, How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the Lord your God prepared it before me. Bereshit 27:20

138 And Isaac said to Jacob, Please come closer, so that I may feel you, my son, whether you are really my son Esau or not. Bereshit 27:21

133 So Jacob drew near to Isaac his father, and he felt him, and he said, The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau. Bereshit 27:22

118 And he did not recognize him because his hands were hairy like the hands of his brother Esau, and he blessed him. Bereshit 27:23

102 And he said, Are you indeed my son Esau? And he said, I am. Bereshit 27:24

110 And he said, Serve it to me that I may eat of the game of my son, so that my soul will bless you. And he served him, and he ate, and he brought him wine, and he drank. Bereshit 27:25

113 And his father Isaac said to him, Please come closer and kiss me, my son. Bereshit 27:26

120 And he came closer, and he kissed him, and he smelled the fragrance of his garments, and he blessed him, and he said, Behold, the fragrance of my son is like the fragrance of a field, which the Lord has blessed! Bereshit 27:27

128 And may the Lord give you of the dew of the heavens and of the fatness of the earth and an abundance of grain and wine. Bereshit 27:28

107 Nations shall serve you and kingdoms shall bow down to you; you shall be a master over your brothers, and your mother's sons shall bow down to you. Those who curse you shall be cursed, and those who bless you shall be blessed." Bereshit 27:29

123 And it came to pass, when Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and it came to pass Jacob had just left his father Isaac's presence, that his brother Esau came from his hunt. Bereshit 27:30

115 And he too had made tasty foods, and he brought them to his father, and he said to his father, "Let my father arise and eat of the game of his son, so that your soul will bless me. " Bereshit 27:31

99 And his father Isaac said to him, Who are you? And he said, I am your son, your firstborn, Esau. Bereshit 27:32

138 And Isaac shuddered a great shudder, and he said, "Who then is the one who hunted game and brought it to me, and I ate of everything while you had not yet come, and I blessed him? He, too, shall be blessed." Bereshit 27:33

119 When Esau heard his father's words, he cried out a great and bitter cry, and he said to his father, "Bless me too, O my father!" Bereshit 27:34

109 And he said, Your brother came with cunning and took your blessing. Bereshit 27:35

127 And he said, Is it for this reason that he was named Jacob? For he has deceived me twice; he took my birthright, and behold, now he has taken my blessing. And he said, Have you not reserved a blessing for me? Bereshit 27:36

132 And Isaac answered and said to Esau, Behold, I made him a master over you, and I gave him all his brothers as servants, and I have sustained him with corn and wine; so for you then, what shall I do, my son? Bereshit 27:37

105 And Esau said to his father, Have you but one blessing, my father? Bless me too, my father. And Esau raised his voice and wept. Bereshit 27:38

119 And his father Isaac answered and said to him, Behold, your dwelling place shall be the fat places of the earth and of the dew of the heaven from above. Bereshit 27:39

122 And you shall live by your sword, and you shall serve your brother, and it will be, when you grieve, that you will break his yoke off your neck. Bereshit 27:40

135 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing that his father had blessed him, and Esau said to himself, Let the days of mourning for my father draw near, I will then kill my brother Jacob. Bereshit 27:41

118 And Rebecca was told of the words of Esau, her elder son, and she sent and called Jacob, her younger son, and she said to him, "Behold, your brother Esau regrets his relationship to you and wishes to kill you. Bereshit 27:42

109 And now, my son, hearken to my voice, and arise, flee to my brother Laban, to Haran. Bereshit 27:43

103 And you shall dwell with him for a few days until your brother's wrath has subsided. Bereshit 27:44

103 Until your brother's rage subsides from you, and he forgets what you did to him, and I will send and bring you from there. Why should I be bereft of both of you on one day?" Bereshit 27:45

129 And Rebecca said to Isaac, I am disgusted with my life because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth like these, from the daughters of the land, of what use is life to me? Bereshit 27:46

129 And Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, and he commanded him and said to him, You shall not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan. Bereshit 28:1

120 Arise, go to Padan aram, to the house of Bethuel, your mother's father, and take yourself from there a wife of the daughters of Laban, your mother's brother. Bereshit 28:2

112 And may the Almighty God bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and you shall become an assembly of peoples. Bereshit 28:3

124 And may He give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your seed with you, that you may inherit the land of your sojournings, which God gave to Abraham. Bereshit 28:4

125 And Isaac sent Jacob, and he went to Padan aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebecca, the mother of Jacob and Esau. Bereshit 28:5

151 And Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padan aram, to take himself a wife from there, and that when he blessed him, he commanded him, saying, "You shall not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan." Bereshit 28:6

104 And Jacob listened to his father and his mother, and he went to Padan aram. Bereshit 28:7

105 So Esau went to Ishmael, and he took Mahalath, the daughter of Ishmael, the son of Abraham, the sister of Nebaioth, in addition to his other wives as a wife. Bereshit 28:9

120 And Jacob left Beer sheba, and he went to Haran. Bereshit 28:10

127 And he arrived at the place and lodged there because the sun had set, and he took some of the stones of the place and placed them at his head, and he lay down in that place. Bereshit 28:11

125 And he dreamed, and behold! a ladder set up on the ground and its top reached to heaven; and behold, angels of God were ascending and descending upon it. Bereshit 28:12

113 And behold, the Lord was standing over him, and He said, I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac; the land upon which you are lying to you I will give it and to your seed. Bereshit 28:13

122 And your seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and you shall gain strength westward and eastward and northward and southward; and through you shall be blessed all the families of the earth and through your seed. Bereshit 28:14

126 And behold, I am with you, and I will guard you wherever you go, and I will restore you to this land, for I will not forsake you until I have done what I have spoken concerning you. Bereshit 28:15

116 And Jacob awakened from his sleep, and he said, "Indeed, the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it." Bereshit 28:16

140 And he was frightened, and he said, How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. Bereshit 28:17

132 And Jacob arose early in the morning, and he took the stone that he had placed at his head, and he set it up as a monument, and he poured oil on top of it. Bereshit 28:18

112 And he named the place Beth El, but Luz was orignally the name of the city. Bereshit 28:19

110 And Jacob uttered a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and He will guard me on this way, upon which I am going, and He will give me bread to eat and a garment to wear; Bereshit 28:20

105 And if I return in peace to my father's house, and the Lord will be my God; Bereshit 28:21

106 Then this stone, which I have placed as a monument, shall be a house of God, and everything that You give me, I will surely tithe to You. Bereshit 28:22

117 Now Jacob lifted his feet and went to the land of the people of the East. Bereshit 29:01

129 And he looked, and behold! a well in the field, and behold! three flocks of sheep lying beside it, because from that well they would water the flocks, and a huge rock was upon the mouth of the well. Bereshit 29:02

131 And all the flocks would gather there, and they would roll the rock off the mouth of the well and water the sheep, and then they would return the rock onto the mouth of the well, to its place. Bereshit 29:3

120 And he said to them, Do you know Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him. Bereshit 29:5

108 And he said to them, Are things going well with him? And they said, Things are going well, and behold, his daughter Rachel is coming with the sheep. Bereshit 29:6

114 And he said, The day is yet long; it is not the time to take in the livestock. Water the sheep and go, pasture. Bereshit 29:7

144 And they said, We cannot do that, until all the flocks are gathered together, and they will roll the rock off the mouth of the well, and we shall then water the sheep. Bereshit 29:8

112 While he was still talking with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep, for she was a shepherdess. Bereshit 29:9

134 And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel, the daughter of Laban, his mother's brother and the sheep of Laban, his mother's brother, that Jacob drew near and rolled the rock off the mouth of the well, and he watered the sheep of Laban, his mother's brother. Bereshit 29:10

128 And Jacob kissed Rachel, and he raised his voice and wept. Bereshit 29:11

119 And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's kinsman and that he was Rebecca's son, and she ran and told her father. Bereshit 29:12

117 Now it came to pass when Laban heard the report of Jacob, his sister's son, that he ran towards him, and he embraced him, and he kissed him, and he brought him into his house. He told Laban all these happenings. Bereshit 29:13

110 And Laban said to him, Indeed, you are my bone and my flesh. And so he stayed with him a full month. Bereshit 29:14

132 And Laban said to Jacob, Because you are my kinsman, should you work for me gratis? Tell me what your wages shall be. Bereshit 29:15

122 Now Laban had two daughters; the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. Bereshit 29:16

111 Leah's eyes were tender, but Rachel had beautiful features and a beautiful complexion. Bereshit 29:17

144 And Jacob loved Rachel, and he said, I will work for you seven years for Rachel, your younger daughter. Bereshit 29:19

111 And Laban said, It is better that I give her to you than I should give her to another man. Stay with me. Bereshit 29:19

137 So Jacob worked for Rachel seven years, but they appeared to him like a few days because of his love for her. Bereshit 29:20

121 And Jacob said to Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are completed, that I may come to her. Bereshit 29:21

127 So Laban gathered all the people of the place, and he made a feast. Bereshit 29:22

100 And it came to pass in the evening that Laban took his daughter Leah, and he brought her to him, and he came to her. Bereshit 29:23

91 And Laban gave Zilpah his maidservant to his daughter Leah as a maidservant. Bereshit 29:24

118 And it came to pass in the morning, and behold she was Leah! So he said to Laban, "What is this that you have done to me? Did I not work with you for Rachel? Why have you deceived me?" Bereshit 29:25

104 And Laban said, It is not done so in our place to give the younger one before the firstborn. Bereshit 29:26

110 Complete the wedding week of this one, and we will give you this one too, for the work that you will render me for another seven years. Bereshit 29:27

119 And Jacob did so, and he completed the week of this one, and he gave his daughter Rachel to him as a wife. Bereshit 29:28

108 And Laban gave his daughter Rachel his maidservant Bilhah, for a maidservant. Bereshit 29:29

125 And he came also to Rachel, and he also loved Rachel more than Leah; and he worked with him yet another seven years. Bereshit 29:30

108 And the Lord saw that Leah was hated, so He opened her womb; but Rachel was barren. Bereshit 29:31

153 And Leah conceived and bore a son, and she named him Reuben, for she said, "Because the Lord has seen my affliction, for now my husband will love me." Bereshit 29:32

118 And she conceived again and bore a son, and she said, "Since the Lord has heard that I am hated, He gave me this one too." So she named him Simeon. Bereshit 29:33

131 And she conceived again and bore a son, and she said, "Now this time my husband will be attached to me, for I have borne him three sons; therefore, He named him Levi. Bereshit 29:34

123 And she conceived again and bore a son, and she said, This time, I will thank the Lord! Therefore, she named him Judah, and then she stopped bearing. Bereshit 29:35

124 And Rachel saw that she had not borne any children to Jacob, and Rachel envied her sister, and she said to Jacob, Give me children, and if not, I am dead. Bereshit 30:1

127 And Jacob became angry with Rachel, and he said, Am I instead of God, Who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb? Bereshit 30:2

101 So she said, Here is my maidservant Bilhah; come to her, and she will bear children on my knees, so that I, too, will be built up from her. Bereshit 30:3

105 So she gave him her maidservant Bilhah for a wife, and Jacob came to her. Bereshit 30:4

117 And Bilhah conceived, and she bore Jacob a son. Bereshit 30:5

117 And Rachel said, God has judged me, and He has also hearkened to my voice and has given me a son; so she named him Dan. Bereshit 30:6

121 And Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant, conceived again and bore Jacob a second son. Bereshit 30:7

122 And Rachel said, With divine bonds I have been joined to my sister; I have also prevailed; so she named him Naftali. Bereshit 30:8

125 When Leah saw that she had stopped bearing children, she took her maidservant Zilpah, and gave her to Jacob for a wife. Bereshit 30:9

110 And Zilpah, Leah's maidservant, bore Jacob a son. Bereshit 30:10

109 And Leah said, Luck has come; so she named him Gad. Bereshit 30:11

117 And Zilpah, Leah's maidservant, bore Jacob a second son. Bereshit 30:12

122 And Leah said, Because of my good fortune, for women have declared me fortunate; so she named him Asher. Bereshit 30:13

131 Reuben went in the days of the wheat harvest, and he found dudaim in the field and brought them to Leah, his mother, and Rachel said to Leah, Now give me some of your son's dudaim. Bereshit 30:14

132 And she said to her, Is it a small matter that you have taken my husband, that you wish also to take my son's dudaim? So Rachel said, Therefore, he shall sleep with you tonight as payment for your son's dudaim. Bereshit 30:15

125 When Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah came forth toward him, and she said, You shall come to me, because I have hired you with my son's dudaim, and he slept with her on that night. Bereshit 30:16

105 And God hearkened to Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son. Bereshit 30:17

111 And Leah said, God has given me my reward for I have given my maidservant to my husband; so she named him Issachar. Bereshit 30:18

113 And Leah conceived again, and she bore Jacob a sixth son. Bereshit 30:19

133 And Leah said, God has given me a good portion. This time, my husband will live with me, for I have borne him six sons; so she named him Zebulun. Bereshit 30:20

110 And afterwards, she bore a daughter, and she named her Dinah. Bereshit 30:21

112 And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and He opened her womb. Bereshit 30:22

130 And she conceived and bore a son, and she said, God has taken away my reproach. Bereshit 30:23

130 So she named him Joseph, saying, May the Lord grant me yet another son! Bereshit 30:24

144 It came to pass when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said to Laban, Send me away, and I will go to my place and to my land. Bereshit 30:25

111 Give me my wives and my children for whom I worked for you, and I will go, for you know my work, which I have worked for you. Bereshit 30:26

119 And Laban said to him, If only I have now found favor in your eyes! I have divined, and the Lord has blessed me for your sake. Bereshit 30:27

112 Then he said, Specify your wages for me, and I will give them. Bereshit 30:28

109 And he said to him, You know how I have worked for you and how your livestock was with me. Bereshit 30:29

122 For the little that you had before me has increased in multitude, and the Lord blessed you upon my arrival; but now, when will I, too, provide something for my household? Bereshit 30:30

118 And he said, What shall I give you? And Jacob said, You shall give me nothing; if you do this thing for me, I will return, I will pasture your flocks, and I will watch them. Bereshit 30:31

132 I will pass throughout all your flocks today, removing from there every speckled and spotted kid, and every brown lamb among the sheep, and every spotted and speckled one from among the goats, and this shall be my wages. Bereshit 30:32

127 And my righteousness will testify for me at a future date for it will come upon my wages before you. Whatever is not speckled or spotted among the goats or brown among the sheep shall be counted as stolen with me. Bereshit 30:33

124 And Laban said, Very well! If only it would be as you say! Bereshit 30:34

144 And he removed on that day the ringed and the spotted male goats and all the speckled and spotted female goats, whichever had white on it, and all the brown from among the sheep, and he gave them into the hands of his sons. Bereshit 30:35

131 And he set three days' journey between himself and Jacob, and Jacob tended Laban's remaining animals. Bereshit 30:36

126 And Jacob took himself moist rods of trembling poplar and hazelnut, and chestnut, and he peeled white streaks upon them, baring the white that was on the rods. Bereshit 30:37

127 And he thrust the rods that he had peeled, into the gutters in the watering troughs where the animals would come to drink opposite the other animals, and they would come into heat when they came to drink. Bereshit 30:38

140 And the flocks came into heat by the rods, and the animals bore ringed, spotted, and striped young. Bereshit 30:39

141 And Jacob separated the sheep, and he turned the faces of the animals toward the ringed ones and every brown one among Laban's animals, and he made himself flocks by himself, and he did not place them with Laban's animals. Bereshit 30:40

135 And it came to pass, that whenever the animals that were bearing their first would come into heat, Jacob would place the rods in the troughs, before the eyes of the animals, in order to bring them into heat by means of the rods. Bereshit 30:41

143 But if the animals would delay, he would not place them, so that the ones that delayed were Laban's, and the ones that bore their first became Jacob's. Bereshit 30:42

138 And the man became exceedingly wealthy, and he had prolific animals, and maidservants and manservants, and camels and donkeys. Bereshit 30:43

125 And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob has taken all that belonged to our father, and from what belonged to our father, he has amassed this entire fortune. Bereshit 31:1

133 And Jacob saw Laban's countenance, that he was not disposed toward him as he had been yesterday and the day before. Bereshit 31:2

126 And the Lord said to Jacob, Return to the land of your forefathers and to your birthplace, and I will be with you. Bereshit 31:3

116 So Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field, to his flocks. Bereshit 31:4

126 And the Lord said to Jacob, Return to the land of your forefathers and to your birthplace, and I will be with you. Bereshit 31:3

122 So Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field, to his flocks. Bereshit 31:4

125 And he said to them, I see your father's countenance, that he is not disposed toward me as he was yesterday and the day before, but the God of my father was with me. Bereshit 31:5

120 And you know that with all my might I served your father. Bereshit 31:6

114 But your father mocked me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not permit him to harm me. Bereshit 31:7

96 If he would say thus, Speckled ones shall be your wages, all the animals would bear speckled ones, and if he would say thus, Ringed ones shall be your wages, all the animals would bear ringed ones. Bereshit 31:8

103 Thus, God separated your father's livestock and gave it to me. Bereshit 31:9

120 And it came to pass at the time the animals came into heat, that I lifted my eyes and saw in a dream, and behold, the he goats that mounted the animals were ringed, speckled, and striped. Bereshit 31:10

121 And an angel of God said to me in a dream, Jacob! And I said, Here I am. Bereshit 31:11

138 And he said, Now lift your eyes and see that all the he goats mounting the animals are ringed, speckled, and striped, for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you. Bereshit 31:12

132 I am the God of Beth el, where you anointed a monument, where you pronounced to Me a vow. Now, arise, go forth from this land and return to the land of your birth. Bereshit 31:13

107 And Rachel and Leah replied and said to him, Do we still have a share or an inheritance in our father's house? Bereshit 31:14

112 Are we not considered by him as strangers, for he sold us and also consumed our money? Bereshit 31:15

117 But all the wealth that God separated from our father is ours and our children's. So now, all that God said to you, do. Bereshit 31:16

117 So Jacob rose, and he lifted up his sons and his wives upon the camels. Bereshit 31:17

122 And he led all his livestock and all his possessions that he had acquired, the purchase of his acquisition, which he had acquired in Padan aram, to come to Isaac his father, to the land of Canaan. Bereshit 31:18

127 Now Laban had gone to shear his sheep, and meanwhile Rachel stole her father's teraphim. Bereshit 31:19

124 And Jacob concealed from Laban the Aramean by not telling him that he was fleeing. Bereshit 31:20

110 So he and all that were his fled, and he arose and crossed the river, and he directed his face toward Mount Gilead. Bereshit 31:21

110 On the third day, Laban was informed that Jacob had fled. Bereshit 31:22

106 So he took his kinsmen with him, and he pursued him seven days' journey, and he overtook him at Mount Gilead. Bereshit 31:23

141 And God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream of the night, and He said to him, Beware lest you speak with Jacob either good or evil. Bereshit 31:24

119 And Laban overtook Jacob, and Jacob pitched his tent on the mountain, and Laban pitched with his kinsmen on Mount Gilead. Bereshit 31:25

134 And Laban said to Jacob, What have you done, that you concealed from me, and led away my daughters like prisoners of war? Bereshit 31:26

130 Why have you fled secretly, and concealed from me, and not told me? I would have sent you away with joy and with songs, and with drum and with harp. Bereshit 31:27

108 And you did not allow me to kiss my sons and daughters. Now, you have acted foolishly. Bereshit 31:28

130 I have the power to inflict harm upon you, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, Beware of speaking with Jacob either good or bad. Bereshit 31:29

125 But now, you have gone away, for you longed for your father's house, but why have you stolen my gods? Bereshit 31:30

117 And Jacob replied, and he said to Laban, Because I was afraid, because I said, Lest you steal your daughters from me. Bereshit 31:31

142 The one with whom you find your gods shall not live. In the presence of our brothers, recognize for yourself what is with me, and take it for yourself. For Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them. Bereshit 31:32

119 So Laban entered Jacob's tent and Leah's tent and the tents of the two handmaids, but he did not find them; and he had come out of Leah's tent and entered Rachel's tent. Bereshit 31:33

126 But Rachel had taken the teraphim and placed them into the camel saddle and sat upon them; so Laban felt about the entire tent but did not find them. Bereshit 31:34

116 And she said to her father, Let my lord not be annoyed, for I cannot rise before you, for the way of women is upon me. So he searched, but did not find the teraphim. Bereshit 31:35

114 And Jacob was annoyed, and he quarreled with Laban, and he said to Laban, What is my transgression? What is my sin, that you have pursued me? Bereshit 31:36

161 For you have felt about all my things. What have you found of all the utensils of your house? Put it here, in the presence of my kinsmen and your kinsmen, and let them decide between the two of us. Bereshit 31:37

96 Already twenty years have I been with you, and your ewes and she goats have not aborted, neither have I eaten the rams of your flocks. Bereshit 31:38

128 I have not brought home to you anything torn by other animals; I would suffer its loss; from my hand you would demand it, what was stolen by day and what was stolen at night. Bereshit 31:39

106 I was in the field by day when the heat consumed me, and the frost at night, and my sleep wandered from my eyes. Bereshit 31:40

111 This is twenty years that I have spent in your house. I served you fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your animals, and you changed my wages ten times ten times. Bereshit 31:41

138 Had not the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, been for me, you would now have sent me away empty handed. God has seen my affliction and the toil of my hands, and He reproved you last night. Bereshit 31:42

130 And Laban answered and said to Jacob, "The daughters are my daughters, and the sons are my sons, and the animals are my animals, and all that you see is mine. Now, what would I do to these daughters of mine today, or to their children, whom they have borne? Bereshit 31:43

97 So now, come, let us form a covenant, you and I, and may He be a witness between me and you." Bereshit 31:44

98 So Jacob took a stone and set it up as a monument. Bereshit 31:45

103 And Jacob said to his kinsmen, Gather stones, and they took stones and made a pile, and they ate there by the pile. Bereshit 31:46

95 And Laban called it Yegar Sahadutha, but Jacob called it Gal ed. Bereshit 31:47

111 And Laban said, This pile is a witness between me and you today. Therefore, he called it Gal ed. Bereshit 31:48

88 And Mizpah, because he said, May the Lord look between me and you when we are hidden from each other. Bereshit 31:49

105 If you afflict my daughters, or if you take wives in addition to my daughters when no one is with us, behold! God is a witness between me and you. Bereshit 31:50

108 And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this pile and behold this monument, which I have cast between me and you. Bereshit 31:51

93 This pile is a witness, and this monument is a witness, that I will not pass this pile to go to you and that you shall not pass this pile and this monument to come to me to do harm. Bereshit 31:52

118 May the God of Abraham and the god of Nahor judge between us, the god of their father. And Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac. Bereshit 31:53

118 And Jacob slaughtered a slaughtering on the mountain, and he invited his friends to eat a meal, and they ate bread and lodged on the mountain. Bereshit 31:54

109 And Laban arose early in the morning and kissed his sons and daughters and blessed them, and Laban went and returned to his place. Bereshit 32:1

108 And Jacob went on his way, and angels of God met him. Bereshit 32:2

116 And Jacob said when he saw them, This is the camp of God, and he named the place Mahanaim. Bereshit 32:3

102 Jacob sent angels ahead of him to his brother Esau, to the land of Seir, the field of Edom. Bereshit 32:4

104 And he commanded them, saying, So shall you say to my master to Esau, Thus said your servant Jacob, I have sojourned with Laban, and I have tarried until now. Bereshit 32:5

120 And I have acquired oxen and donkeys, flocks, manservants, and maidservants, and I have sent to tell this to my master, to find favor in your eyes. Bereshit 32:6

104 The angels returned to Jacob, saying, We came to your brother, to Esau, and he is also coming toward you, and four hundred men are with him. Bereshit 32:7

130 Jacob became very frightened and was distressed; so he divided the people who were with him and the flocks and the cattle and the camels into two camps. Bereshit 32:8

108 And he said, If Esau comes to one camp and strikes it down, the remaining camp will escape. Bereshit 32:9

128 And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, the Lord, Who said to me, Return to your land and to your birthplace, and I will do good to you. Bereshit 32:10

118 I have become small from all the kindnesses and from all the truth that You have rendered Your servant, for with my staff I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two camps. Bereshit 32:11

95 Now deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, for I am afraid of him, lest he come and strike me, and strike a mother with children. Bereshit 32:12

118 And You said, I will surely do good with you, and I will make your seed as numerous as the sand of the sea, which cannot be counted because of multitude. Bereshit 32:13

109 So he lodged there on that night, and he took from what came into his hand a gift for his brother Esau: Bereshit 32:14

96 Two hundred she goats and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams, Bereshit 32:15

116 Thirty nursing camels with their young, forty cows and ten bulls, twenty she donkeys and ten he donkeys. Bereshit 32:16

113 And he gave into the hands of his servants each herd individually, and he said to his servants, Pass on ahead of me and make a space between one herd and another herd. Bereshit 32:17

107 And he commanded the first one, saying, When my brother Esau meets you, and asks you, saying, To whom do you belong, and where are you going, and for whom are these before you? Bereshit 32:18

123 You shall say, I belong to your servant Jacob; it is a gift sent to my master, to Esau, and behold, he himself is behind us. Bereshit 32:19

119 And he commanded also the second one, also the third one, also all those who followed the herds, saying, "In this manner shall you speak to Esau when you meet him. Bereshit 32:20

120 And you shall say, Also, behold, your servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease his anger with the gift that is going before me, and afterwards I will see his face, perhaps he will favor me. Bereshit 32:21

104 So the gift passed on before him, and he lodged that night in the camp. Bereshit 32:22

96 And he arose during that night, and he took his two wives and his two maidservants and his eleven children, and he crossed the ford of the Jabbok. Bereshit 32:23

96 And he took them and brought them across the stream, and he took across what was his. Bereshit 32:24

93 And Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until the break of dawn. Bereshit 32:25

132 When he saw that he could not prevail against him, he touched the socket of his hip, and the socket of Jacob's hip became dislocated as he wrestled with him. Bereshit 32:26

105 And the angel said, Let me go, for dawn is breaking, but Jacob said, I will not let you go unless you have blessed me. Bereshit 32:27

103 So he said to him, What is your name? and he said, Jacob. Bereshit 32:28

121 And he said, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, because you have commanding power with an angel of God and with men, and you have prevailed. Bereshit 32:29

127 And Jacob asked and said, Now tell me your name, and he said, Why is it that you ask for my name? And he blessed him there. Bereshit 32:30

115 And Jacob named the place Peniel, for he said, I saw an angel face to face, and my soul was saved. Bereshit 32:31

100 And the sun rose for him when he passed Penuel, and he was limping on his thigh. Bereshit 32:32

121 Therefore, the children of Israel may not eat the displaced tendon, which is on the socket of the hip, until this day, for he touched the socket of Jacob's hip, in the hip sinew. Bereshit 32:33

126 Jacob lifted his eyes and saw, and behold, Esau was coming, and with him were four hundred men; so he divided the children with Leah and with Rachel and with the two maidservants. Bereshit 33:1

112 And he placed the maidservants and their children first and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and her Joseph last. Bereshit 33:2

105 And he went ahead of them and prostrated himself to the ground seven times, until he came close to his brother. Bereshit 33:3

83 And Esau ran toward him and embraced him, and he fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept. Bereshit 33:4

116 And he lifted his eyes and saw the women and the children, and he said, Who are these to you? And he said, The children with whom God has favored your servant. Bereshit 33:5

100 And the maidservants and their children drew near and prostrated themselves. Bereshit 33:6

95 And Leah and her children drew near and prostrated themselves, and after them, Joseph and Rachel drew near and prostrated themselves. Bereshit 33:7

96 And he said, What is to you the purpose of all this camp that I have met? And he said, To find favor in my master's eyes. Bereshit 33:8

88 But Esau said, I have plenty, my brother; let what you have remain yours. Bereshit 33:9

118 Thereupon Jacob said, Please no! If indeed I have found favor in your eyes, then you shall take my gift from my hand, because I have seen your face, which is like seeing the face of an angel, and you have accepted me. Bereshit 33:10

107 Now take my gift, which has been brought to you, for God has favored me with it, and because I have everything. He prevailed upon him, and he took it. Bereshit 33:11

105 Thereupon, he said, Travel and we will go, and I will go alongside you. Bereshit 33:12

111 And he said to him, My master knows that the children are tender, and the flocks and the cattle, which are raising their young, depend upon me, and if they overdrive them one day, all the flocks will die. Bereshit 33:13

115 Now, let my master go ahead before his servant, and I will move at my own slow pace, according to the pace of the work that is before me and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my master, to Seir. Bereshit 33:14

109 Thereupon Esau said, Let me leave with you some of the people who are with me. But he said, Why do that? May I find favor in my master's eyes. Bereshit 33:15

98 So Esau returned on that day on his way to Seir. Bereshit 33:16

111 And Jacob traveled to Succoth and built himself a house, and for his cattle he made booths; therefore he named the place Succoth. Bereshit 33:17

112 And Jacob came safely to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan aram, and he encamped before the city. Bereshit 33:18

96 And he bought the part of the field where he had pitched his tent from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, for a hundred kesitas. Bereshit 33:19

82 There he erected an altar, and he named it "God is the God of Israel." Bereshit 33:20

99 Dinah, the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to look about among the daughters of the land. Bereshit 34:1

90 And Shechem the son of Hamor, the Hivvite, the prince of the land, saw her, and he took her, lay with her, and violated her. Bereshit 34:2

134 And his soul cleaved to Dinah the daughter of Jacob; he loved the girl and spoke to the girl's heart. Bereshit 34:3

84 And Shechem spoke to his father Hamor saying, "Take this girl for me as a wife." Bereshit 34:4

113 Jacob had heard that he had defiled his daughter Dinah, but his sons were with his livestock in the field, and Jacob kept silent until they came home. Bereshit 34:5

101 And Hamor, the father of Shechem, went out to Jacob to speak with him. Bereshit 34:6

119 And Jacob's sons had come from the field when they heard, and the men were grieved, and they burned fiercely, because he had committed a scandalous act in Israel, to lie with a daughter of Jacob, and such ought not to be done. Bereshit 34:7

95 And Hamor spoke with them, saying, "My son Shechem his soul has a liking for your daughter. Please give her to him for a wife. Bereshit 34:8

103 And intermarry with us; you shall give us your daughters, and you shall take our daughters for yourselves. Bereshit 34:9

98 And you shall dwell with us, and the land shall be before you; remain, do business there and settle there." Bereshit 34:10

115 And Shechem said to her father and to her brothers, "May I find favor in your eyes. Whatever you tell me I will give. Bereshit 34:11

95 Impose upon me a large marriage settlement and gifts, and I will give as much as you ask of me, but give me the girl for a wife." Bereshit 34:12

146 Thereupon, Jacob's sons answered Shechem and his father Hamor with cunning, and they spoke, because after all he had defiled their sister Dinah. Bereshit 34:13

112 And they said to them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to a man who has a foreskin, for that is a disgrace to us. Bereshit 34:14

129 But with this, however, we will consent to you, if you will be like us, that every male will be circumcised. Bereshit 34:15

103 Then we will give you our daughters, and we will take your daughters for ourselves, and we will dwell with you and become one people. Bereshit 34:16

90 But if you do not listen to us to be circumcised, we will take our daughter and go. Bereshit 34:17

110 Their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, the son of Hamor. Bereshit 34:18

104 And the young man did not delay to do the thing because he desired Jacob's daughter, and he was the most honored in all his father's household. Bereshit 34:19

96 And Hamor and his son Shechem came to the gate of their city, and they spoke to the people of their city, saying, Bereshit 34:20

90 These men are peaceful with us, and they will dwell in the land and do business there, and the land behold it is spacious enough for them. We will take their daughters for ourselves as wives, and we will give them our daughters. Bereshit 34:21

95 However, only with this condition will the men consent to dwell with us, to become one people, by every male among us being circumcised, just as they are circumcised. Bereshit 34:22

104 Then shall not their cattle, their property, and all their beasts be ours? But let us consent to them, and they will dwell with us. Bereshit 34:33

97 And all those coming out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male, all who went out of the gate of his city, became circumcised. Bereshit 34:24

137 Now it came to pass on the third day, when they were in pain, that Jacob's two sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, each took his sword, and they came upon the city with confidence, and they slew every male. Bereshit 34:25

88 And Hamor and his son Shechem they slew with the edge of the sword, and they took Dinah out of Shechem's house and left. Bereshit 34:26

94 Jacob's sons came upon the slain and plundered the city that had defiled their sister. Bereshit 34:27

103 Their flocks and their cattle and their donkeys, and whatever was in the city and whatever was in the field they took. Bereshit 34:28

92 And all their wealth and all their infants and their wives they captured and plundered, and all that was in the house. Bereshit 34:29

137 Thereupon, Jacob said to Simeon and to Levi, You have troubled me, to discredit me among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and among the Perizzites, and I am few in number, and they will gather against me, and I and my household will be destroyed. Bereshit 34:30

90 And they said, Shall he make our sister like a harlot? Bereshit 34:31

88 And God said to Jacob, Arise and go up to Beth el and abide there, and make there an altar to the God Who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau. Bereshit 35:1

120 Thereupon Jacob said to his household and to all those who were with him, Remove the deities of the foreign nations, which are in your midst, purify yourselves and change your clothes. Bereshit 35:2

102 And we will arise and go up to Beth el, and I will make an altar to the God Who answered me on the day of my distress, and was with me on the way that I went." Bereshit 35:3

115 And they gave Jacob all the deities of the nations that were in their possession and the earrings that were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the terebinth that was near Shechem. Bereshit 35:4

119 Then they traveled, and the fear of God was upon the cities that were around them, so that they did not pursue Jacob's sons. Bereshit 35:5

100 And Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan that is Beth el he and all the people who were with him. Bereshit 35:6

97 He built there an altar, and he called the place El Beth el, for there God had been revealed to him when he fled from before his brother Esau. Bereshit 35:7

87 And Deborah, Rebecca's nurse, died, and she was buried beneath Beth el, beneath the plain; so he named it Allon Bachuth. Bereshit 35:8

113 And God appeared again to Jacob when he came from Padan aram, and He blessed him. Bereshit 35:9

109 God said to him, Your name is Jacob. Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name. And He named him Israel. Bereshit 35:10

113 And God said to him, I am the Almighty God; be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a multitude of nations shall come into existence from you, and kings shall come forth from your loins. Bereshit 35:11

109 And the land that I gave to Abraham and to Isaac, I will give to you and to your seed after you will I give the land." Bereshit 35:12

101 And God went up from him in the place where He had spoken with him. Bereshit 35:13

109 Now Jacob had erected a monument in the place where He had spoken with him, a stone monument, and he poured a libation upon it, and then he poured oil upon it. Bereshit 35:14

97 Jacob named the place where God had spoken with him Beth el. Bereshit 35:15

94 And they journeyed from Beth el, and there was still some distance to come to Ephrath, and Rachel gave birth, and her labor was difficult. Bereshit 35:16

110 It came to pass when she had such difficulty giving birth, that the midwife said to her, "Do not be afraid, for this one, too, is a son for you." Bereshit 35:17

99 And it came to pass, when her soul departed for she died that she named him Ben oni, but his father called him Benjamin. Bereshit 35:18

95 So Rachel died, and she was buried on the road to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem. Bereshit 35:19

102 And Jacob erected a monument on her grave; that is the tombstone of Rachel until this day. Bereshit 35:20

78 Israel journeyed, and he pitched his tent at some distance past the Tower of Eder. Bereshit 35:21

109 And it came to pass when Israel sojourned in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, his father's concubine, and Israel heard of it, and so, the sons of Jacob were twelve. Bereshit 35:22

99 The sons of Leah were Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun. Bereshit 35:23

100 And Jacob came to his father Isaac, to Mamre, Kiriath arba, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac dwelt. Bereshit 35:27

94 The days of Isaac were a hundred and eighty years. Bereshit 35:28

104 And Isaac expired and died and was gathered in to his peoples, old and sated with days, and his sons, Esau and Jacob, buried him. Bereshit 35:29

100 And these are the generations of Esau, that is, Edom. Bereshit 36:1

96 Esau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah, daughter of Elon the Hittite; and Oholibamah, daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon the Hivvite; Bereshit 36:2

89 Also Basemath, daughter of Ishmael, sister of Nebaioth. Bereshit 36:3

87 Oholibamah bore Jeush and Jalam and Korah; these are the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan. Bereshit 36:5

119 And Esau took his wives, his sons, and his daughters and all the people of his household, and his cattle and all his animals and all his property that he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and he went to a nother land, because of his brother Jacob. Bereshit 36:6

113 For their possessions were too numerous for them to dwell together, and the land of their sojournings could not support them because of their livestock. Bereshit 36:7

81 So Esau dwelt on Mount Seir Esau, that is Edom. Bereshit 36:8

120 And these are the names of the chieftains of Esau, according to their clans, according to their places, by their names: Chief Timna, Chief Alvah, Chief Jetheth; Bereshit 36:40

83 Chief Oholibamah, Chief Elah, Chief Pinon, Bereshit 36:41

92 Chief Kenaz, Chief Teman, Chief Mibzar, Bereshit 36:42

105 Chief Magdiel, Chief Iram. These are the chieftains of Edom according to their dwelling places in the land of their possession. That is Esau, progenitor of the Edomites. Bereshit 36:43

97 Jacob dwelt in the land of his father's sojournings, in the land of Canaan. Bereshit 37:1

137 These are the generations of Jacob: when Joseph was seventeen years old, being a shepherd, he was with his brothers with the flocks, and he was a lad, and was with the sons of Bilhah and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives; and Joseph brought evil tales about them to their father. Bereshit 37:2

129 And Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons, because he was a son of his old age; and he made him a fine woolen coat. Bereshit 37:3

129 And his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, so they hated him, and they could not speak with him peacefully. Bereshit 37:4

95 And Joseph dreamed a dream and told his brothers, and they continued to hate him. Bereshit 37:5

88 And he said to them, Listen now to this dream, which I have dreamed: Bereshit 37:6

115 Behold, we were binding sheaves in the midst of the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright, and behold, your sheaves encircled it and prostrated themselves to my sheaf. Bereshit 37:7

91 So his brothers said to him, Will you reign over us, or will you govern us? And they continued further to hate him on account of his dreams and on account of his words. Bereshit 37:8

120 And he again dreamed another dream, and he related it to his brothers, and he said, Behold, I have dreamed another dream, and behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were prostrating themselves to me. Bereshit 37:9

118 And he told it to his father and to his brothers, and his father rebuked him and said to him, "What is this dream that you have dreamed? Will we come I, your mother, and your brothers to prostrate ourselves to you to the ground?" Bereshit 37:10

85 So his brothers envied him, but his father awaited the matter. Bereshit 37:11

100 And his brothers went to pasture their father's flocks in Shechem. Bereshit 37:12

116 And Israel said to Joseph, Are your brothers not pasturing in Shechem? Come, and I will send you to them. And he said to him, Here I am. Bereshit 37:13

110 So he said to him, Go now and see to your brothers' welfare and the welfare of the flocks, and bring me back word. So he sent him from the valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem. Bereshit 37:14

106 Then a man found him, and behold, he was straying in the field, and the man asked him, saying, What are you looking for? Bereshit 37:15

100 And he said, I am looking for my brothers. Tell me now, where are they pasturing? Bereshit 37:16

107 And the man said, They have traveled away from here, for I overheard them say, Let us go to Dothan. So Joseph went after his brothers, and he found them in Dothan. Bereshit 37:17

116 And they saw him from afar, and when he had not yet drawn near to them, they plotted against him to put him to death. Bereshit 37:18

96 So they said one to the other, Behold, that dreamer is coming. Bereshit 37:19

83 So now, let us kill him, and we will cast him into one of the pits, and we will say, A wild beast devoured him, and we will see what will become of his dreams. Bereshit 37:20

105 But Reuben heard, and he saved him from their hands, and he said, Let us not deal him a deadly blow. Bereshit 37:21

116 And Reuben said to them, Do not shed blood! Cast him into this pit, which is in the desert, but do not lay a hand upon him, in order to save him from their hands, to return him to his father. Bereshit 37:22

109 Now it came to pass when Joseph came to his brothers, that they stripped Joseph of his shirt, of the fine woolen coat which was upon him. Bereshit 37:23

95 And they took him and cast him into the pit; now the pit was empty there was no water in it. Bereshit 37:24

119 And they sat down to eat a meal, and they lifted their eyes and saw, and behold, a caravan of Ishmaelites was coming from Gilead, and their camels were carrying spices, balm, and lotus, going to take it down to Egypt. Bereshit 37:25

89 And Judah said to his brothers, What is the gain if we slay our brother and cover up his blood? Bereshit 37:26

115 Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, but our hand shall not be upon him, for he is our brother, our flesh. And his brothers hearkened. Bereshit 37:27

116 Then Midianite men, merchants, passed by, and they pulled and lifted Joseph from the pit, and they sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty silver pieces, and they brought Joseph to Egypt. Bereshit 37:28

101 And Reuben returned to the pit, and behold, Joseph was not in the pit; so he rent his garments. Bereshit 37:29

87 And he returned to his brothers and said, The boy is gone! And I where will I go? Bereshit 37:30

88 And they took Joseph's coat, and they slaughtered a kid, and they dipped the coat in the blood. Bereshit 37:31

111 And they sent the fine woolen coat, and they brought it to their father, and they said, "We have found this; now recognize whether it is your son's coat or not." Bereshit 37:32

95 He recognized it, and he said, "It is my son's coat; a wild beast has devoured him; Joseph has surely been torn up." Bereshit 37:33

120 And Jacob rent his garments, and he put sackcloth on his loins, and he mourned for his son many days. Bereshit 37:34

117 And all his sons and all his daughters arose to console him, but he refused to be consoled, for he said, Because I will descend on account of my son as a mourner to the grave; and his father wept for him. Bereshit 37:35

101 And the Midianites sold him to Egypt, to Potiphar, Pharaoh's chamberlain, chief of the slaughterers. Bereshit 37:36

119 Now it came about at that time that Judah was demoted by his brothers, and he turned away until he came to an Adullamite man, named Hirah. Bereshit 38:1

95 And there Judah saw the daughter of a merchant named Shua, and he took her and came to her. Bereshit 38:2

88 And she conceived and bore a son, and he named him Er. Bereshit 38:3

86 And she conceived again and bore a son, and she named him Onan. Bereshit 38:4

97 Once again she bore a son, and she named him Shelah, and he (Judah) was in Chezib when she gave birth to him. Bereshit 38:5

101 And Judah took a wife for Er, his firstborn, named Tamar. Bereshit 38:6

91 Now Er, Judah's firstborn, was evil in the eyes of the Lord, and the Lord put him to death. Bereshit 38:7

105 So Judah said to Onan, "Come to your brother's wife and perform the rite of the levirate, and raise up progeny for your brother." Bereshit 38:8

108 Now Onan knew that the progeny would not be his, and it came about, when he came to his brother's wife, he wasted his semen on the ground, in order not to give seed to his brother. Bereshit 38:9

102 Now what he did was evil in the eyes of the Lord, and He put him to death also. Bereshit 38:10

124 Then Judah said to his daughter in law Tamar, "Remain as a widow in your father's house until my son Shelah grows up," for he said, "Lest he too die, like his brothers." So Tamar went, and she remained in her father's house. Bereshit 38:11

116 Many days passed, and Shua's daughter, Judah's wife, died; and Judah was consoled, and he went up to watch over his sheepshearers he and Hirah, his Adullamite friend to Timnah. Bereshit 38:12

108 And it was told to Tamar, saying, Behold, your father in law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep. Bereshit 38:13

124 So she took off her widow's garb, covered her head with a veil and covered her face, and she sat down at the crossroads that were on the way to Timnah, for she saw that Shelah had grown up, but as for her she was not given to him for a wife. Bereshit 38:14

153 When Judah saw her, he thought she was a harlot, because she covered her face. Bereshit 38:15

119 So he turned aside toward her to the road, and he said, Get ready now, I will come to you, for he did not know that she was his daughter in law, and she said, What will you give me that you should come to me? Bereshit 38:16

117 And he said, I will send a kid from the herd, and she said, Only if you give me a pledge until you send it. Bereshit 38:17

119 So he said, What is the pledge that I should give you? And she said, Your signet, your cloak, and the staff that is in your hand. So he gave them to her, and he came to her, and she conceived his likeness. Bereshit 38:18

96 Then she arose and went away, and she took off her veil, and she donned her widow's garb. Bereshit 38:19

111 And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his Adullamite friend to take the pledge from the woman's hand, but he did not find her. Bereshit 38:20

126 So he asked the people of the place, saying, Where is the harlot who was at the crossroads on the way? and they said, No harlot was here. Bereshit 38:21

119 So he returned to Judah, and he said, I have not found her, and the people of the place also said, No harlot was here. Bereshit 38:22

111 So Judah said, Let her take them for herself, lest we become a laughingstock. Behold, I sent this kid, but you did not find her. Bereshit 38:23

124 Now it came about after nearly three months, that it was told to Judah, saying, Your daughter in law Tamar has played the harlot, and behold, she is pregnant from harlotry. So Judah said, Bring her out, and let her be burned. Bereshit 38:24

123 She was taken out, and she sent to her father in law, saying, From the man to whom these belong I am pregnant, and she said, Please recognize whose signet ring, cloak, and staff are these? Bereshit 38:25

124 Then Judah recognized them, and he said, She is right, it is from me, because I did not give her to my son Shelah. But he no longer continued to be intimate with her. Bereshit 38:26

109 And it came about at the time she was giving birth, that behold, there were twins in her womb. Bereshit 38:27

136 And it came about when she gave birth, that he (the infant) stretched out his hand. So the midwife took and bound a crimson thread on his hand, saying, This one came out first. Bereshit 38:28

122 And it came about, as he was drawing back his hand, behold, his brother emerged, and she said, With what strength you have strengthened yourself! And he named him Perez. Bereshit 38:29

110 Afterwards, his brother emerged, the one upon whose hand was the crimson thread, and he named him Zerah. Bereshit 38:30

98 Now Joseph had been brought down to Egypt, and Potiphar, Pharaoh's chamberlain, chief of the slaughterers, an Egyptian man, purchased him from the Ishmaelites who had brought him down there. Bereshit 39:1

100 The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man, and he was in the house of his Egyptian master. Bereshit 39:2

93 And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and whatever he did the Lord made prosper in his hand. Bereshit 39:3

102 And Joseph found favor in his eyes, and he served him, and he (Potiphar) appointed him over his house, and all he had he gave into his hand. Bereshit 39:4

108 Now it came to pass that since he had appointed him over his house and over all that he had, the Lord blessed the house of the Egyptian for Joseph's sake, and the blessing of the Lord was in all that he had, in the house and in the field. Bereshit 39:5

95 So he left all that he had in Joseph's hand, and he knew nothing about what was with him except the bread that he ate; and Joseph had handsome features and a beautiful complexion. Bereshit 39:6

105 Now it came to pass after these events that his master's wife lifted up her eyes to Joseph, and she said, Lie with me. Bereshit 39:7

107 But he refused, and he said to his master's wife, Behold, with me my master knows nothing about anything in the house, and all he has he has given into my hand. Bereshit 39:8

107 In this house, there is no one greater than I, and he has not withheld anything from me except you, insofar as you are his wife. Now how can I commit this great evil, and sin against God? Bereshit 39:9

104 Now it came about when she spoke to Joseph day in and day out, that he did not obey her, to lie beside her and to be with her. Bereshit 39:10

109 And it came about on a certain day, that he came to the house to do his work, and none of the people of the house were there in the house. Bereshit 39:11

92 So she grabbed him by his garment, saying, Lie with me! But he left his garment in her hand and fled and went outside. Bereshit 39:12

87 Now it happened, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had fled outside, Bereshit 39:13

92 That she called to the people of her house, and she spoke to them, saying, Look! He brought us a Hebrew man to mock us. He came to me to lie with me, but I called loudly. Bereshit 39:14

104 And it happened that when he heard that I raised my voice and called out, he left his garment beside me, and he fled and went outside. Bereshit 39:15

91 So she left his garment beside her, until his master came home. Bereshit 39:16

99 And she told him the same thing, saying, "The Hebrew slave that you brought to us came to me to mock me. Bereshit 39:17

91 And it happened when I raised my voice and called out, that he left his garment beside me and fled outside." Bereshit 39:18

110 Now it came about when his master heard his wife's report that she spoke to him, saying, "Your slave did such things to me," that his wrath burned. Bereshit 39:19

96 So Joseph's master took him and put him into prison, the place where the king's prisoners were imprisoned, and he was there in the prison. Bereshit 39:20

106 The Lord was with Joseph, and He extended charisma to him, and He gave him favor in the eyes of the warden of the prison. Bereshit 39:21

126 So the warden of the prison delivered all the prisoners who were in the prison into Joseph's hand, and whatever they did there, he was the one who did it. Bereshit 39:22

103 The warden of the prison did not inspect anything that was in his (Joseph's) hand, for the Lord was with him, and whatever he did the Lord made prosper. Bereshit 39:23

98 Now it came about after these events that the cupbearer of the king of Egypt and the baker sinned against their master, against the king of Egypt. Bereshit 40:1

103 And Pharaoh became incensed at his two chamberlains, at the chief cupbearer and at the chief baker. Bereshit 40:2

104 And he placed them in the prison of the house of the chief of the slaughterers, into the prison, the place where Joseph was imprisoned. Bereshit 40:3

101 And the chief of the slaughterers appointed Joseph to be with them, and he served them, and they were a year in prison. Bereshit 40:4

103 Now both of them dreamed a dream, each one his dream on the same night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison. Bereshit 40:5

95 And Joseph came to them in the morning, and he saw them and behold, they were troubled. Bereshit 40:6

128 And he asked Pharaoh's chamberlains who were with him in the prison of his master's house, saying, Why are your faces sad today? Bereshit 40:7

103 And they said to him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter for it. Joseph said to them, Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me now. Bereshit 40:8

101 So the chief cupbearer related his dream to Joseph, and he said to him, "In my dream, behold, a vine is before me. Bereshit 40:9

123 And on the vine are three tendrils, and it seemed to be blossoming, and its buds came out; then its clusters ripened into grapes. Bereshit 40:10

111 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes and squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I placed the cup on Pharaoh's palm. Bereshit 40:11

99 And Joseph said to him, This is its meaning: the three tendrils are three days. Bereshit 40:12

147 In another three days, Pharaoh will number you with the other officers, and he will restore you to your position, and you will place Pharaoh's cup into his hand, according to your previous custom, when you were his cupbearer. Bereshit 40:13

111 But remember me when things go well with you, and please do me a favor and mention me to Pharaoh, and you will get me out of this house. Bereshit 40:14

112 For I was stolen from the land of the Hebrews, and here too, I have done nothing, for which they have put me into the dungeon. Bereshit 40:15

146 Now the chief baker saw that he had interpreted well. So he said to Joseph, Me too! In my dream, behold, there were three wicker baskets on my head. Bereshit 40:16

108 And in the topmost basket were all kinds of Pharaoh's food, the work of a baker, and the birds were eating them from the basket atop my head. Bereshit 40:17

102 And Joseph replied and said, This is its meaning: the three baskets represent three days. Bereshit 40:18

116 In another three days, Pharaoh will remove your head from you and hang you on a gallows, and the birds will eat your flesh off you. Bereshit 40:19

112 Now it came about on the third day, Pharaoh's birthday, that Pharaoh made a feast for all his servants, and he counted the chief cupbearer and chief baker among his servants. Bereshit 40:20

118 And he restored the chief cupbearer to his position as cupbearer, and he placed the cup on Pharaoh's palm. Bereshit 40:21

97 And the chief baker he hanged, as Joseph had interpreted to them. Bereshit 40:22

102 But the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, and he forgot him. Bereshit 40:23

98 It came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh was dreaming, and behold, he was standing by the Nile. Bereshit 41:1

102 And behold, from the Nile were coming up seven cows, of handsome appearance and robust flesh, and they pastured in the marshland. Bereshit 41:2

114 And behold, seven other cows were coming up after them from the Nile, of ugly appearance and lean of flesh, and they stood beside the cows which were on the Nile bank. Bereshit 41:3

96 And the cows of ugly appearance and lean of flesh devoured the seven cows that were of handsome appearance and healthy; then Pharaoh awoke. Bereshit 41:4

104 And he fell asleep and dreamed again, and behold, seven ears of grain were growing on one stalk, healthy and good. Bereshit 41:5

108 And behold, seven ears of grain, thin and beaten by the east wind, were growing up after them. Bereshit 41:6

107 And the thin ears of grain swallowed up the seven healthy and full ears of grain; then Pharaoh awoke, and behold, a dream. Bereshit 41:7

122 Now it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; so he sent and called all the necromancers of Egypt and all its sages, and Pharaoh related to them his dream, but no one interpreted them for Pharaoh. Bereshit 41:8

96 Now the chief cupbearer spoke with Pharaoh, saying, I call to mind my faults today. Bereshit 41:9

90 Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and he put me in prison, in the house of the chief slaughterer, me and the chief baker. Bereshit 41:10

93 And we dreamed a dream on the same night, I and he; each one according to the interpretation of his dream, we dreamed. Bereshit 41:11

84 And there with us was a Hebrew lad, a slave of the chief slaughterer, and we told him, and he interpreted our dreams for us; for each of us, he interpreted according to his dream. Bereshit 41:12

93 And it came to pass that just as he had interpreted, so it was; me he restored to my position, and him he hanged. Bereshit 41:13

93 So Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they rushed him from the dungeon, and he shaved and changed his clothes, and he then came to Pharaoh. Bereshit 41:14

128 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter for it, but I have heard it said of you that you understand a dream, to interpret it. Bereshit 41:15

93 And Joseph replied to Pharaoh, saying, Not I; God will give an answer that will bring peace to Pharaoh. Bereshit 41:16

101 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, In my dream, behold, I was standing on the bank of the Nile. Bereshit 41:17

106 And behold, seven cows of robust flesh and handsome form were ascending from the Nile, and they pastured in the marshland. Bereshit 41:18

108 And behold, seven other cows were ascending after them, emaciated and of very ugly form and with meager flesh; I have not seen such ugly ones throughout the entire land of Egypt. Bereshit 41:19

105 And the meager and ugly cows devoured the first seven healthy cows. Bereshit 41:20

94 And they went inside them, but it was not known that they had gone inside of them, for their appearance was as ugly as in the beginning; then I awoke. Bereshit 41:21

107 Then I saw in my dream, and behold, seven ears of grain were growing on one stalk, full and good. Bereshit 41:22

94 And behold, seven ears of grain, hardened, thin, and beaten by the east wind, were growing up after them. Bereshit 41:23

125 And the thin ears of grain swallowed up the seven good ears of grain; I told the necromancers, but no one tells me its meaning." Bereshit 41:24

110 And Joseph said to Pharaoh, "Pharaoh's dream is one; what God is doing He has told Pharaoh. Bereshit 41:25

91 The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good ears of grain are seven years; it is one dream. Bereshit 41:26

97 And the seven meager and ugly cows coming up after them are seven years, and the seven empty ears of grain, beaten by the east wind, will be seven years of famine. Bereshit 41:27

91 It is this matter that I have spoken to Pharaoh; what God is about to do He has shown Pharaoh. Bereshit 41:28

86 Behold, seven years are coming, great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt. Bereshit 41:29

103 And seven years of famine will arise after them, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt, and the famine will destroy the land. Bereshit 41:30

106 And the plenty will not be known because of that famine to follow, for it will be very severe. Bereshit 41:31

110 And concerning the repetition of the dream to Pharaoh twice that is because the matter is ready to emanate from God, and God is hastening to execute it. Bereshit 41:32

94 So now, let Pharaoh seek out an understanding and wise man and appoint him over the land of Egypt. Bereshit 41:33

87 Let Pharaoh do this and appoint officials over the land and prepare the land of Egypt during the seven years of plenty. Bereshit 41:34

102 And let them collect all the food of these coming seven good years, and let them gather the grain under Pharaoh's hand, food in the cities, and keep it. Bereshit 41:35

102 Thus the food will remain as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which will be in the land of Egypt, so that the land will not be destroyed by the famine." Bereshit 41:36

117 The matter pleased Pharaoh and all his servants. Bereshit 41:37

97 So Pharaoh said to his servants, Will we find anyone like this, a man in whom there is the spirit of God? Bereshit 41:38

110 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, Since God has let you know all this, there is no one as understanding and wise as you. Bereshit 41:39

156 You shall be appointed over my household, and through your command all my people shall be nourished; only with the throne will I be greater than you. Bereshit 41:40

107 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, Look, I have appointed you over the entire land of Egypt. Bereshit 41:41

118 And Pharaoh removed his ring from his hand and placed it on Joseph's hand, and he attired him with raiment of fine linen, and he placed the golden chain around his neck. Bereshit 41:42

100 And he had him ride in his chariot of second rank, and they called out before him, This is the king's patron, appointing him over the entire land of Egypt. Bereshit 41:43

104 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and besides you, no one may lift his hand or his foot in the entire land of Egypt." Bereshit 41:44

101 And Pharaoh named Joseph Zaphenath Pa'neach, and he gave him Asenath the daughter of Poti phera, the governor of On, for a wife, and Joseph went forth over the land of Egypt. Bereshit 41:45

108 And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and Joseph went out from before Pharaoh and passed through the entire land of Egypt. Bereshit 41:46

109 And in the seven years of plenty, the inhabitants of the land gathered food by handfuls. Bereshit 41:47

110 And he collected all the food of the seven years that was in the land of Egypt, and he placed food in the cities, the food of the field surrounding the city, he put within it. Bereshit 41:48

98 And Joseph gathered grain like the sand of the sea, in great abundance, until one stopped counting, because there was no number. Bereshit 41:49

102 And to Joseph were born two sons before the year of the famine set in, whom Asenath the daughter of Poti phera, the governor of On, bore to him. Bereshit 41:50

109 And Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh, for God has caused me to forget all my toil and all my father's house. Bereshit 41:51

94 And the second one he named Ephraim, for "God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction." Bereshit 41:52

90 And the seven years of plenty that were in the land of Egypt were finished. Bereshit 41:53

105 And the seven years of famine began, as Joseph had said, and there was famine in all the lands, but throughout the land of Egypt there was bread. Bereshit 41:54

108 When the entire land of Egypt hungered, the people cried out to Pharaoh for bread, but Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, "Go to Joseph; what he tells you, do." Bereshit 41:55

118 Now the famine spread over all the face of the land, and Joseph opened all the storehouses in which there was grain, and he sold it to the Egyptians, and the famine intensified in the land of Egypt. Bereshit 41:56

95 And all the inhabitants of the land came to Egypt to Joseph to purchase, for the famine had intensified in the entire land. Bereshit 41:57

105 Jacob saw that there was grain being sold in Egypt; so Jacob said to his sons, "Why do you appear satiated?" Bereshit 42:1

105 And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is grain being sold in Egypt. Go down there and buy us some from there, so that we will live and not die. Bereshit 42:2

92 So Joseph's ten brothers went down to buy grain from Egypt. Bereshit 42:3

125 But Joseph's brother, Benjamin, Jacob did not send with his brothers, because, he said, Lest misfortune befall him. Bereshit 42:4

96 So the sons of Israel came to purchase among those who came, for the famine was in the land of Canaan. Bereshit 42:5

98 Now Joseph was the ruler over the land; it was he who sold grain to the entire populace of the land, and Joseph's brothers came and prostrated themselves to him, with their faces to the ground. Bereshit 42:6

103 And Joseph saw his brothers, and he recognized them, but he made himself a stranger to them, and he spoke to them harshly, and he said to them, "Where do you come from?" And they said, "From the land of Canaan to purchase food." Bereshit 42:7

85 Now Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him. Bereshit 42:8

94 And Joseph remembered the dreams that he had dreamed about them, and he said to them, "You are spies; you have come to see the nakedness of the land." Bereshit 42:9

107 And they said to him, No, my master, your servants have come to buy food. Bereshit 42:10

96 We are all sons of one man. We are honest. Your servants were never spies. Bereshit 42:11

95 But he said to them, No! But you have come to see the nakedness of the land. Bereshit 42:12

111 And they said, "We, your servants, are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan, and behold, the youngest is with our father today, and one is gone." Bereshit 42:13

104 And Joseph said to them, This is just what I have spoken to you, saying, You are spies. Bereshit 42:14

117 With this you shall be tested: By Pharaoh's life, you shall not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here. Bereshit 42:15

94 Send one of you and let him fetch your brother, and you will be imprisoned so that your words will be tested whether truth is with you, and if not, as Pharaoh lives, you are spies!" Bereshit 42:16

75 And he put them in prison for three days. Bereshit 42:17

88 On the third day, Joseph said to them: "Do this and live I fear God. Bereshit 42:18

96 If you are honest, your one brother will be confined in your prison, and you, go bring the grain for the hunger of your households. Bereshit 42:19

95 And bring your youngest brother to me, so that your words may be verified, and you will not die." And they did so. Bereshit 42:20

122 And they said to one another, "Indeed, we are guilty for our brother, that we witnessed the distress of his soul when he begged us, and we did not listen. That is why this trouble has come upon us." Bereshit 42:21

99 And Reuben answered them, saying, Did not I tell you, saying, Do not sin against the lad, but you did not listen? Behold, his blood, too, is being demanded! Bereshit 42:22

96 They did not know that Joseph understood, for the interpreter was between them. Bereshit 42:23

94 And he turned away from them and wept, then returned to them and spoke to them; and he took Simeon from among them and imprisoned him before their eyes. Bereshit 42:24

96 And Joseph commanded, and they filled their vessels with grain, and he commanded to return their money into each one's sack, and to give them provisions for the journey, and he did so for them. Bereshit 42:25

98 And they loaded their grain upon their donkeys, and they went away from there. Bereshit 42:26

107 The one opened his sack to give fodder to his donkey at the lodging place, and he saw his money there it was, in the mouth of his sack. Bereshit 42:27

120 And he said to his brothers, My money has been returned, and indeed, here it is in my sack! Their hearts sank, and trembling, they turned to one another, saying, What is this that God has done to us? Bereshit 42:28

107 And they came to Jacob their father, to the land of Canaan, and they told him all that had befallen them, saying, Bereshit 42:29

75 The man, the lord of the land, spoke to us harshly, and he accused us of spying on the land. Bereshit 42:30

80 And we said to him, We are honest; we were never spies. Bereshit 42:31

95 We are twelve brothers, the sons of our father; one is gone, and today the youngest is with our father in the land of Canaan. Bereshit 42:32

112 And the man, the lord of the land, said to us, With this I will know that you are honest; leave one of your brothers with me, and what is needed for the hunger of your households, take and go. Bereshit 42:33

106 And bring your youngest brother to me, so that I will know that you are not spies, that you are honest; then I will give you your brother, and you may travel around in the land. Bereshit 42:34

95 And it came to pass that they were emptying their sacks and behold! Each one's bundle of money was in his sack; they saw the bundles of their money, they and their father, and they became frightened. Bereshit 42:35

108 And their father Jacob said to them, You have bereaved me-Joseph is gone, and Simeon is gone, and you want to take Benjamin! All these troubles have come upon me. Bereshit 42:36

111 And Reuben spoke to his father, saying, You may put my two sons to death if I don't bring him to you. Put him into my hands and I will return him to you. Bereshit 42:37

112 But he Jacob said, My son shall not go down with you, because his brother is dead, and he alone is left, and if misfortune befalls him on the way you are going, you will bring down my gray head in sorrow to the grave. Bereshit 42:38

68 But the hunger was severe in the land. Bereshit 43:1

99 And it came to pass, when they finished eating the grain that they had brought from Egypt, that their father said to them, "Go back and buy us a little food." Bereshit 43:2

96 But Judah spoke to him, saying, The man warned us repeatedly, saying, You shall not see my face if your brother is not with you. Bereshit 43:3

84 If you send our brother with us, we will go down and buy food for you. Bereshit 43:4

112 But if you do not send him, we will not go down, because the man said to us, You shall not see my face if your brother is not with you. Bereshit 43:5

94 And Israel said, Why have you harmed me, by telling the man that you have another brother? Bereshit 43:6

109 They said, The man asked about us and about our family, saying, Is your father still alive? Do you have a brother? And we told him according to these words. Could we have known that he would say, Bring your brother down? Bereshit 43:7

106 And Judah said to Israel, his father, Send the lad with me, and we will get up and go, and we will live and not die, both we and you and also our young children. Bereshit 43:8

81 I will guarantee him; from my hand you can demand him. If I do not bring him to you and stand him up before you, I will have sinned against you forever. Bereshit 43:9

77 For had we not tarried, by now we would have already returned twice. Bereshit 43:10

125 So Israel, their father, said to them, If so, then do this: take some of the choice products of the land in your vessels, and take down to the man as a gift, a little balm and a little honey, wax and lotus, pistachios and almonds. Bereshit 43:11

100 And take double the money in your hands, and the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks you shall return in your hands, perhaps it was an error. Bereshit 43:12

75 And take your brother, and get up, go back to the man. Bereshit 43:13

100 And may the Almighty God grant you compassion before the man, and he will release to you your other brother and Benjamin, and as for me as I am bereaved, I am bereaved. Bereshit 43:14

105 So the men took this gift, and they took double the money in their hands and Benjamin, and they got up and went down to Egypt and stood before Joseph. Bereshit 43:15

106 When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the overseer of his house, Bring the men into the house and give orders to slaughter an animal and to prepare, for the men will eat with me at lunch. Bereshit 43:16

91 And the man did as Joseph had said, and the man brought the men into Joseph's house. Bereshit 43:17

129 Now the men were frightened because they had been brought into Joseph's house, and they said, On account of the money that came back in our sacks at first, we are brought, to roll upon us and to fall upon us and to take us as slaves and our donkeys as well. Bereshit 43:18

94 So they drew near the man who was over Joseph's house, and they spoke to him at the entrance of the house. Bereshit 43:19

85 And they said, Please, my lord, we came down at first to purchase food. Bereshit 43:20

105 And it came to pass when we came to the lodging place that we opened our sacks, and behold! each man's money was in the mouth of his sack, and we returned it in our hands. Bereshit 43:21

83 And we brought down other money in our hands to purchase food. We do not know who put our money into our sacks. Bereshit 43:22

102 And he said, Peace to you; fear not. Your God and the God of your father gave you a treasure in your sacks; your money came to me. And he brought Simeon out to them. Bereshit 43:23

125 Then the man brought the men (the brothers) into Joseph's house, and he gave them water, and they washed their feet, and he gave fodder to their donkeys. Bereshit 43:24

92 And they prepared the gift until Joseph would come at lunchtime, for they heard that there they would eat bread. Bereshit 43:25

96 And Joseph came home, and they brought him the gift that was in their hands, into the house, and they prostrated themselves to him to the ground. Bereshit 43:26

97 He inquired after their welfare, and he said to them, Is your elderly father, whom you mentioned, well? Is he still alive? Bereshit 43:27

99 And they said, Your servant, our father, is well; he is still alive. And they bowed and prostrated themselves. Bereshit 43:28

108 And he lifted his eyes and saw Benjamin, his brother, the son of his mother, and he said, Is this your little brother, whom you told me about? And he said, May God favor you, my son. Bereshit 43:29

86 And Joseph hastened, for his mercy was stirred toward his brother, and he wanted to weep; so he went into the room and wept there. Bereshit 43:30

74 And he washed his face and came out, and he restrained himself and said, "Serve the food." Bereshit 43:31

100 And they set for him separately and for them separately, and for the Egyptians who ate with him separately, because the Egyptians could not eat food with the Hebrews, because it is an abomination to the Egyptians. Bereshit 43:32

73 They sat before him, the firstborn according to his age, and the youngest according to his youth, and the men looked at each other in astonishment. Bereshit 43:33

91 And he had portions brought to them from before him, and Benjamin's portion was five times as large as the portions of any of them, and they drank and became intoxicated with him. Bereshit 43:34

98 Then he commanded the overseer of his house, saying, "Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's money into the mouth of his sack. Bereshit 44:1

103 And my goblet, the silver goblet, put into the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and his purchase money." And he did according to Joseph's word, which he had spoken. Bereshit 44:2

97 The morning became light, and the men were sent on their way they and their donkeys. Bereshit 44:3

87 They had exited the city, but had not gone far when Joseph said to the overseer of his house, "Get up, pursue the men, and when you overtake them, say to them, 'Why have you repaid good with evil? Bereshit 44:4

85 Is not this the one my master drinks from? Why, he even divines with it! You have done evil by the way you have acted.' " Bereshit 44:5

82 He overtook them, and he said these words to them. Bereshit 44:6

105 And they said to him, Why should my master say such words as these? Far be it from your servants to do a thing like this! Bereshit 44:7

108 Behold, the money we found in the mouth of our sacks we returned to you from the land of Canaan; so how could we steal from your master's house silver or gold? Bereshit 44:8

95 Whichever one of your servants with whom it is found shall die, and also we will be slaves to my master. Bereshit 44:9

102 And he said, Now indeed, so it is as you have spoken. But the one with whom it is found shall be my slave, and you shall be cleared. Bereshit 44:10

102 So they hastened, and each one lowered his sack to the ground, and each one opened his sack. Bereshit 44:11

81 He searched; he started with the eldest and finished with the youngest, and the goblet was found in Benjamin's sack. Bereshit 44:12

83 So they rent their garments, and each one loaded his donkey, and they returned to the city. Bereshit 44:13

97 And Judah and his brothers came to Joseph's house, and he was still there, and they fell before him upon the ground. Bereshit 44:14

119 And Joseph said to them, What is this deed that you have committed? Don't you know that a person like me practices divination? Bereshit 44:15

115 And Judah said, What shall we say to my master? What shall we speak, and how shall we exonerate ourselves? God has found your servants iniquity both we and the one in whose possession the goblet has been found. Bereshit 44:16

99 But he said, Far be it from me to do this! The man in whose possession the goblet was found he shall be my slave, but as for you go up in peace to your father. Bereshit 44:17

110 Then Judah approached him and said, Please, my lord, let now your servant speak something into my lord's ears, and let not your wrath be kindled against your servant, for you are like Pharaoh. Bereshit 44:18

84 My lord asked his servants, saying, 'Have you a father or a brother?' Bereshit 44:19

233 And we said to my lord, 'We have an old father and a young child of his old age, and his brother is dead, and he is left alone of his mother, and his father loves him.' Bereshit 44:20

107 And you said to your servants, Bring him down to me, and I will set my eyes upon him. Bereshit 44:21

108 And we said to my lord, The boy cannot leave his father, for if he leaves his father, he will die. Bereshit 44:22

107 And you said to your servants, If your youngest brother does not come down with you, you will not see my face again. Bereshit 44:23

105 And it came to pass when we went up to your servant, my father, and we told him the words of my lord, Bereshit 44:24

89 That our father said, Go back, buy us a little food. Bereshit 44:25

102 But we said, 'We cannot go down; only if our youngest brother is with us will we go down, for we cannot see the man's face if our youngest brother is not with us.' Bereshit 44:26

92 And your servant, my father, said to us, 'You know that my wife bore me two children. Bereshit 44:27

97 The one went away from me, and I said, "He has surely been torn to pieces, and I have not seen him since." Bereshit 44:28

104 Now if you take this one too away from me, and misfortune befalls him, you will bring down my hoary head in misery to the grave.' Bereshit 44:29

90 And now, when I come to your servant, my father, and the boy is not with us since his soul is attached to his (the boy's) soul, Bereshit 44:30

92 It will come to pass, when he sees that the boy is gone, he will die, and your servants will have brought down the hoary head of your servant, our father, in grief to the grave. Bereshit 44:31

94 For your servant assumed responsibility for the boy from my father, saying, 'If I do not bring him to you, I will have sinned against my father forever.' Bereshit 44:32

107 So now, please let your servant stay instead of the boy as a slave to my lord, and may the boy go up with his brothers. Bereshit 44:33

123 For how will I go up to my father if the boy is not with me? Let me not see the misery that will befall my father!" Bereshit 44:34

111 Now Joseph could not bear all those standing beside him, and he called out, "Take everyone away from me!" So no one stood with him when Joseph made himself known to his brothers. Bereshit 45:1

81 And he wept out loud, so the Egyptians heard, and the house of Pharaoh heard. Bereshit 45:2

116 And Joseph said to his brothers, I am Joseph. Is my father still alive? but his brothers could not answer him because they were startled by his presence. Bereshit 45:3

107 Then Joseph said to his brothers, Please come closer to me, and they drew closer. And he said, I am your brother Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. Bereshit 45:4

92 But now do not be sad, and let it not trouble you that you sold me here, for it was to preserve life that God sent me before you. Bereshit 45:5

107 For already two years of famine have passed in the midst of the land, and for another five years, there will be neither plowing nor harvest. Bereshit 45:6

98 And God sent me before you to make for you a remnant in the land, and to preserve it for you for a great deliverance. Bereshit 45:7

111 And now, you did not send me here, but God, and He made me a father to Pharaoh, a lord over all his household, and a ruler over the entire land of Egypt. Bereshit 45:8

101 Hasten and go up to my father, and say to him, So said your son, Joseph: God has made me a lord over all the Egyptians. Come down to me, do not tarry. Bereshit 45:9

85 And you shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near to me, you and your children and your grandchildren, and your flocks and your cattle and all that is yours. Bereshit 45:10

111 And I will sustain you there for there are still five years of famine lest you become impoverished, you and your household and all that is yours. Bereshit 45:11

101 And behold, your eyes see, as well as the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth speaking to you. Bereshit 45:12

98 And you shall tell my father of all my honor in Egypt and all that you have seen, and you shall hasten and bring my father down here. Bereshit 45:13

110 And he fell on his brother Benjamin's neck and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck. Bereshit 45:14

141 And he kissed all his brothers and wept over them, and afterwards his brothers spoke with him. Bereshit 45:15

101 And the voice was heard in Pharaoh's house, saying, "Joseph's brothers have come!" And it pleased Pharaoh and his servants. Bereshit 45:16

101 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Tell your brothers, Do this load up your beasts and go, enter the land of Canaan. Bereshit 45:17

109 And take your father and your households and come to me, and I will give you the best of the land of Egypt, and you will eat the fat of the land. Bereshit 45:18

102 And Joseph have been commanded to tell them, Do this: take yourselves wagons from the land of Egypt for your young children and for your wives, and you shall carry your father and come. Bereshit 45:19

90 And let your eye not be concerned about your utensils, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours. Bereshit 45:20

103 And the sons of Israel did so, and Joseph gave them wagons by Pharaoh's orders, and he gave them provisions for the way. Bereshit 45:21

90 He gave them all, to each one several changes of clothes, and to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of clothes. Bereshit 45:22

105 And to his father he sent the following: ten he donkeys carrying of the best of Egypt, and ten she donkeys carrying grain, bread, and other food, for his father for the way. Bereshit 45:23

112 And he sent off his brothers, and they went, and he said to them, Do not quarrel on the way. Bereshit 45:24

97 So they went up from Egypt, and they came to the land of Canaan, to their father, Jacob. Bereshit 45:25

99 And they told him, saying, Joseph is still alive, and they told him that he ruled over the entire land of Egypt, and his heart changed, for he did not believe them. Bereshit 45:26

103 And they told him all of Joseph's words that he had said to them, and he saw the wagons that Joseph had sent to carry him, and the spirit of their father Jacob was revived. Bereshit 45:27

107 And Israel said, Enough! My son Joseph is still alive. I will go and see him before I die. Bereshit 45:28

100 And Israel and all that was his set out and came to Beer sheba, and he slaughtered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. Bereshit 46:1

98 And God said to Israel in visions of the night, and He said, "Jacob, Jacob!" And he said, "Here I am." Bereshit 46:2

105 And He said, I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid of going down to Egypt, for there I will make you into a great nation. Bereshit 46:3

91 I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also bring you up, and Joseph will place his hand on your eyes. Bereshit 46:4

126 And Jacob arose from Beer sheba, and the sons of Israel carried their father Jacob and their young children and their wives, in the wagons Pharaoh had sent to carry him. Bereshit 46:5

121 And they took their livestock and their possessions that they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and they came to Egypt, Jacob and all his descendants with him. Bereshit 46:6

94 His sons and his sons' sons with him, his daughters and his sons' daughters and all his descendants he brought with him to Egypt. Bereshit 46:7

114 And these are the names of the children of Israel who were coming to Egypt: Jacob and his sons Jacob's firstborn was Reuben. Bereshit 46:8

88 And the sons of Reuben were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. Bereshit 46:9

93 And the sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, and Zohar, and Saul the son of the Canaanitess. Bereshit 46:10

95 And the sons of Levi were Gershon, Kehath, and Merari. Bereshit 46:11

116 And the sons of Judah were Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah. Now Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan; and the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul. Bereshit 46:12

94 And the sons of Issachar were Tola, Puvvah, Iob, and Shimron. Bereshit 46:13

84 And the sons of Zebulun were Sered, Elon, and Jahleel. Bereshit 46:14

86 And the sons of Gad were Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli. Bereshit 46:16

104 And the sons of Asher were Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Briah, and Serah, their sister; and the sons of Briah were Heber and Malkiel. Bereshit 46:17

121 These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Leah, and she bore these to Jacob, sixteen souls. Bereshit 46:18

99 The sons of Rachel, Jacob's wife, were Joseph and Benjamin. Bereshit 46:19

103 And the sons of Benjamin were Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Na'aman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard. Bereshit 46:21

102 And the sons of Naphtali were Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem. Bereshit 46:24

118 These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel, and she bore these to Jacob, all the souls were seven. Bereshit 46:25

115 All the souls coming to Egypt with Jacob, those descended from him, excluding the wives of Jacob's sons, all the souls were sixty six. Bereshit 46:26

101 And Joseph's sons, who were born to him in Egypt, two souls; all the souls of the house of Jacob who came to Egypt were seventy. Bereshit 46:27

144 He sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph, to direct him to Goshen, and they came to the land of Goshen. Bereshit 46:28

94 And Joseph harnessed his chariot, and he went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and he appeared to him, and he fell on his neck, and he wept on his neck for a long time. Bereshit 46:29

98 And Israel said to Joseph, I will die this time, since I have seen your face, that you are still alive. Bereshit 46:30

95 Joseph said to his brothers and to his father's household, I will go up and tell Pharaoh, and I will say to him, My brothers and my father's household who were in the land of Canaan have come to me. Bereshit 46:31

99 The men are shepherds, for they were always owners of livestock, and their flocks and their cattle and all they have they have brought. Bereshit 46:32

90 And if it comes to pass that Pharaoh calls you and asks, 'What is your occupation?' Bereshit 46:33

115 You shall say, Your servants have been owners of livestock from our youth until now, both we and our ancestors, so that you may dwell in the land of Goshen, because all shepherds are abhorrent to the Egyptians. Bereshit 46:34

94 Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and he said, "My father and my brothers and their flocks and their cattle and all that is theirs, have come from the land of Canaan, and behold, they are in the land of Goshen." Bereshit 47:1

93 And from among his brothers he took five men, and he presented them before Pharaoh. Bereshit 47:2

104 And Pharaoh said to his brothers, "What is your occupation?" And they said to Pharaoh, "Your servants are shepherds, both we and our forefathers." Bereshit 47:3

112 And they said to Pharaoh, We have come to sojourn in the land, for your servants flocks have no pasture, for the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. Now, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen. Bereshit 47:4

90 And Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, Your father and your brothers have come to you. Bereshit 47:5

143 The land of Egypt is open before you; in the best of the land settle your father and your brothers. Let them dwell in the land of Goshen, and if you know that there are capable men among them, make them livestock officers over what is mine. Bereshit 47:6

95 So Joseph brought his father Jacob and stood him before Pharaoh, and Jacob greeted Pharaoh. Bereshit 47:7

102 And Pharaoh said to Jacob, How many are the days of the years of your life? Bereshit 47:8

107 And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The days of the years of my sojournings are one hundred thirty years. The days of the years of my life have been few and miserable, and they have not reached the days of the years of the lives of my forefathers in the days of their sojournings. Bereshit 47:9

94 So Jacob blessed Pharaoh and left Pharaoh's presence. Bereshit 47:10

103 Joseph settled his father and his brothers, and he gave them property in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had mandated. Bereshit 47:11

102 And Joseph sustained his father and his brothers and his father's entire household with bread according to the young children. Bereshit 47:12

91 Now there was no food in the entire land, for the famine had grown exceedingly severe, and the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan were exhausted because of the famine. Bereshit 47:13

95 And Joseph collected all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan with the grain that they were buying, and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house. Bereshit 47:14

101 Now the money was depleted from the land of Egypt and from the land of Canaan, and all the Egyptians came to Joseph, saying, "Give us food; why should we die in your presence, since the money has been used up?" Bereshit 47:15

104 And Joseph said, Give me your livestock, and I will give you food in return for your livestock, if the money has been used up. Bereshit 47:16

96 So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them food in return for the horses and for the livestock in flocks and in cattle and in donkeys, and he provided them with food in return for all their livestock in that year. Bereshit 47:17

113 That year ended, and they came to him in the second year, and they said to him, "We will not hide from my lord, for insofar as the money and the property in animals have been forfeited to my lord, nothing remains before my lord, except our bodies and our farmland. Bereshit 47:18

114 Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our farmland? Buy us and our farmland for food, so that we and our farmland will be slaves to Pharaoh, and give us seed, so that we live and not die, and the soil will not lie fallow." Bereshit 47:19

99 So Joseph bought all the farmland of the Egyptians for Pharaoh, for the Egyptians sold, each one his field, for the famine had become too strong for them, and the land became Pharaoh's. Bereshit 47:20

78 And he transferred the populace to the cities, from one end of the boundary of Egypt to its other end. Bereshit 47:21

96 Only the farmland of the priests he did not buy, for the priests had an allotment from Pharaoh, and they ate their allotment that Pharaoh had given them; therefore, they did not sell their farmland. Bereshit 47:22

106 Joseph said to the people, Behold, I have bought you and your farmland today for Pharaoh. Behold, you have seed, so sow the soil. Bereshit 47:23

114 And it shall be concerning the crops, that you shall give a fifth to Pharaoh, and the remaining four parts shall be yours: for seed for your fields, for your food, for those in your houses, and for your young children to eat." Bereshit 47:24

100 They replied, You have saved our lives! Let us find favor in my lord's eyes, and we will be slaves to Pharaoh. Bereshit 47:25

112 So Joseph made it a statute to this day concerning the farmland of Egypt for the one fifth. Only the farmland of the priests alone did not become Pharaoh's. Bereshit 47:26

104 And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt in the land of Goshen, and they acquired property in it, and they were prolific and multiplied greatly. Bereshit 47:27

129 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt for seventeen years, and Jacob's days, the years of his life, were a hundred and forty seven years. Bereshit 47:28

113 When the time drew near for Israel to die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, "If I have now found favor in your eyes, now place your hand beneath my thigh, and you shall deal with me with lovingkindness and truth; do not bury me now in Egypt. Bereshit 47:29

111 I will lie with my forefathers, and you shall carry me out of Egypt, and you shall bury me in their grave." And he said, "I will do as you say." Bereshit 47:30

86 And he said, "Swear to me. " So he swore to him, and Israel prostrated himself on the head of the bed. Bereshit 47:31

92 Now it came to pass after these incidents that someone said to Joseph, "Behold, your father is ill." So he took his two sons with him, Manasseh and Ephraim. Bereshit 48:1

103 And someone told Jacob and said, Behold, your son Joseph is coming to you. And Israel summoned his strength and sat up on the bed. Bereshit 48:2

121 And Jacob said to Joseph, "Almighty God appeared to me in Luz, in the land of Canaan, and He blessed me. Bereshit 48:3

116 And He said to me, Behold, I will make you fruitful and cause you to multiply, and I will make you into a congregation of peoples, and I will give this land to your seed after you for an everlasting inheritance. Bereshit 48:4

106 And now, as for your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt, until I came to you, to the land of Egypt they are mine. Ephraim and Manasseh shall be mine like Reuben and Simeon. Bereshit 48:5

94 But your children, if you beget any after them, shall be yours; by their brothers' names they shall be called in their inheritance. Bereshit 48:6

108 As for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died to me in the land of Canaan on the way, when there was still a stretch of land to come to Ephrath, and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem." Bereshit 48:7

103 Then Israel saw Joseph's sons, and he said, "Who are these?" Bereshit 48:8

101 Joseph said to his father, "They are my sons, whom God gave me here." So he said, "Now bring them near to me, so that I may bless them." Bereshit 48:9

97 Now Israel's eyes had become heavy with age, to the extent that he could not see. So he drew them near to him, and he kissed them and embraced them. Bereshit 48:10

111 And Israel said to Joseph, "I had not expected to see even your face, and behold, God has shown me your children too." Bereshit 48:11

93 And Joseph took them out from upon his Jacob's knees, and he prostrated himself to the ground. Bereshit 48:12

102 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim at his right, from Israel's left, and Manasseh at his left, from Israel's right, and he brought them near to him. Bereshit 48:13

109 But Israel stretched out his right hand and placed it on Ephraim's head, although he was the younger, and his left hand he placed on Manasseh's head. He guided his hands deliberately, for Manasseh was the firstborn. Bereshit 48:14

111 And he blessed Joseph and said, "God, before Whom my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, walked, God Who sustained me as long as I am alive, until this day, Bereshit 48:15

129 May the angel who redeemed me from all harm bless the youths, and may they be called by my name and the name of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, and may they multiply abundantly like fish, in the midst of the land." Bereshit 48:16

116 And Joseph saw that his father was placing his right hand on Ephraim's head, and it displeased him. So he held up his father's hand to remove it from upon Ephraim's head to place it on Manasseh's head. Bereshit 48:17

92 And Joseph said to his father, "Not so, Father, for this one is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head." Bereshit 48:18

111 But his father refused, and he said, "I know, my son, I know; he too will become a people, and he too will be great. But his younger brother will be greater than he, and his children's fame will fill the nations." Bereshit 48:19

104 So he blessed them on that day, saying, With you, Israel will bless, saying, May God make you like Ephraim and like Manasseh, and he placed Ephraim before Manasseh. Bereshit 48:20

128 And Israel said to Joseph, "Behold, I am going to die, and God will be with you, and He will return you to the land of your forefathers. Bereshit 48:21

89 And I have given you one portion over your brothers, which I took from the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow." Bereshit 48:22

110 Jacob called for his sons and said, "Gather and I will tell you what will happen to you at the end of days. Bereshit 49:1

97 Gather and listen, sons of Jacob, and listen to Israel, your father. Bereshit 49:2

83 Reuben, you are my firstborn, my strength and the first of my might. You should have been superior in rank and superior in power. Bereshit 49:3

99 You have the restlessness of water; therefore, you shall not have superiority, for you ascended upon your father's couch; then you profaned Him Who ascended upon my bed. Bereshit 49:4

87 Simeon and Levi are brothers; stolen instruments are their weapons. Bereshit 49:5

107 Let my soul not enter their counsel; my honor, you shall not join their assembly, for in their wrath they killed a man, and with their will they hamstrung a bull. Bereshit 49:6

106 Cursed be their wrath for it is mighty, and their anger because it is harsh. I will separate them throughout Jacob, and I will scatter them throughout Israel. Bereshit 49:7

113 Judah, as for you, your brothers will acknowledge you. Your hand will be at the nape of your enemies, and your father's sons will prostrate themselves to you. Bereshit 49:8

109 A cub and a grown lion is Judah. From the prey, my son, you withdrew. He crouched, rested like a lion, and like a lion, who will rouse him? Bereshit 49:9

113 The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the student of the law from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to him will be a gathering of peoples. Bereshit 49:10

94 Zebulun will dwell on the coast of the seas; he will be at the harbor of the ships, and his boundary will be at Zidon. Bereshit 49:13

80 Issachar is a bony donkey, lying between the boundaries. Bereshit 49:14

97 He saw a resting place, that it was good, and the land, that it was pleasant, and he bent his shoulder to bear burdens, and he became an indentured laborer. Bereshit 49:15

79 Dan will avenge his people, like one, the tribes of Israel. Bereshit 49:16

96 Dan will be a serpent on the road, a viper on the path, which bites the horse's heels, so its rider falls backwards. Bereshit 49:17

68 For Your salvation, I hope, O Lord! Bereshit 49:18

75 As for Gad, a troop will troop forth from him, and it will troop back in its tracks. Bereshit 49:19

84 From Asher will come rich food, and he will yield regal delicacies. Bereshit 49:20

103 But his bow was strongly established, and his arms were gilded from the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob; from there he sustained the rock of Israel, Bereshit 49:24

112 From the God of your father, and He will help you, and with the Almighty, and He will bless you with the blessings of the heavens above, the blessings of the deep, lying below, the blessings of father and mother. Bereshit 49:25

120 The blessings of your father surpassed the blessings of my parents, the ends of the everlasting hills. May they come to Joseph's head and to the crown of the head of the one who was separated from his brothers. Bereshit 49:26

91 Benjamin is a wolf, he will prey; in the morning he will devour plunder, and in the evening he will divide the spoil." Bereshit 49:27

84 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke to them and blessed them; each man, according to his blessing, he blessed them. Bereshit 49:28

104 And he commanded them and said to them, "I will be brought in to my people; bury me with my fathers, in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, Bereshit 49:29

130 in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre in the land of Canaan, which field Abraham bought from Ephron the Hittite for burial property. Bereshit 49:30

88 There they buried Abraham and his wife Sarah, there they buried Isaac and his wife Rebecca, and there I buried Leah. Bereshit 49:31

91 The purchase of the field and the cave therein was from the sons of Heth. Bereshit 49:32

111 And Jacob concluded commanding his sons, and he drew his legs up into the bed, and expired and was brought in to his people. Bereshit 49:33

85 Joseph fell on his father's face, and he wept over him and kissed him. Bereshit 50:1

91 And Joseph commanded his servants, the physicians, to embalm his father, and the physicians embalmed Israel. Bereshit 50:2

111 And forty days were completed for him for so are the days of embalming completed and the Egyptians wept over him for seventy days. Bereshit 50:3

104 When the days of his weeping had passed, Joseph spoke to Pharaoh's household, saying, "If now I have found favor in your eyes, speak now in Pharaoh's ears, saying, Bereshit 50:4

116 My father adjured me, saying, Behold, I am going to die. In my grave, which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me. So now, please let me go up and bury my father and return. Bereshit 50:5

74 And Pharaoh said, Go up and bury your father as he adjured you. Bereshit 50:6

104 So Joseph went up to bury his father, and all Pharaoh's servants, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt went up with him, Bereshit 50:7

121 And Joseph's entire household and his brothers and his father's household; only their young children and their flocks and cattle did they leave in the land of Goshen. Bereshit 50:8

103 And chariots and horsemen also went up with him, and the camp was very numerous. Bereshit 50:9

112 And they came to the threshing floor of the thornbushes, which is on the other side of the Jordan, and there they conducted a very great and impressive eulogy, and he made for his father a mourning of seven days. Bereshit 50:10

112 Now Joseph's brothers saw that their father had died, and they said, Perhaps Joseph will hate us and return to us all the evil that we did to him. Bereshit 50:15

91 So they commanded messengers to go to Joseph, to say, Your father commanded us before his death, saying, Bereshit 50:16

139 So shall you say to Joseph, Please, forgive now your brothers transgression and their sin, for they did evil to you. Now please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father. Joseph wept when they spoke to him. Bereshit 50:17

95 His brothers also went and fell before him, and they said, Behold, we are your slaves. Bereshit 50:18

89 But Joseph said to them, Don't be afraid, for am I instead of God? Bereshit 50:19

120 Indeed, you intended evil against me, but God designed it for good, in order to bring about what is at present to keep a great populace alive. Bereshit 50:20

101 So now do not fear. I will sustain you and your small children. And he comforted them and spoke to their hearts. Bereshit 50:21
